Hi Aircon Experts,
want to seek your advice before deciding to proceed to repair.

I have Toshiba RAS-M16xx inverter series, 4 indoor unit and 1 outdoor condenser.
Suddenly, one of my aircon unit (which is the biggest capacity) in the living room totally could not turn on/start. It was not the remote control issue (I've tested). Tried to switch it on using the manual switch on the unit itself but still cannot turned on.

I called one of the service company, the technician only checked the indoor unit for 15mins, and said that unit PCB, receiver and transformers are all faulty. Total cost of $ 420.

I called another company to get second opinion. The guy checked the indoor unit. He switched one of my bedroom pcb (which has lower capacity) to test, and it did not respond too. He checked the outdoor unit PCB, and said that the PCB was faulty. Recommended to change the whole condenser, which cost around $ 2,600.

Can help to advice which one makes more sense?

thanks a lot,
John :)

My panasonic inverter having this "Outdoor gas pipe thermistor error". The error is H36.

Normally how much does it cost to replace it? I was quoted $450. Is it too expensive?

I suggest you get Carrier direct to check.
They are covering all after sales service for Toshiba now.

But based on your description, it should be the indoor PCB faulty.

Hi Terumo,
thanks for your reply. May I know why you suspect it's indoor unit PCB faulty?
I noticed that since it's ONLY the living room one that is not responding, it shouldn't be the outdoor PCB that faulty?
And the living room unit has the biggest capacity. Does that explain by using other unit's PCB will not work too?

thanks again ;)

Sorry,

Just a guess, don't take it too seriously.
Get a technician to get it out... :)

Hi All,

I am seeking help from aircon experts here as I am out of ideas already. I am having problems with my 6 years MHI aircon.

All 3 fancoils shut down together after 1-2 hours. Error light blinking. Switch it on again and it switches off again after 1-2 hours. Keeps repeating.

Is it the fuse or fan or motor or pcb?

Any suggestions from anyone? Any clues to the problem, please? Thanks!!!

Same fault as mine. The repairman replaced the pcb board and 2 fuses. Fault solved but bye bye to money. Heart pain cos the system is only 1.5 year old. Apparently, I was told that it is the surge of incoming current that fried the board and I did experience a power trip when this problem begin.

Hey, you could probably check w the repairman again? See if there was any complication that came along. May be he can deduct off some $$ from what you have paid for pcb ?

You can call MHI to check what the error code corresponds to. Could give you a better idea on roughly where the problem lies ! Would be more helpful that way..

The repairman doesn't know too. Not sure what really happened because fuses broke but didn't protect the pcb from the current surge on time. The main trips also didn't help. Maybe lousy component from building developer.

Help.

My place has 4 aircon units. 3 are used sparingly, a few times a week. Each time half hour to 1 hour.

1 unit is turned on almost 24/7 and this unit has a recurring problem of leaking. Need to service every 3 months or will leak.

So every 3 months i will service one unit and every half year service all 4.

Last servicing (last week), the technician says the troublesome unit needs chemical wash ($150) because something inside is clogged. 2 days later the unit starts leaking again.

But i was told chemical washing has nothing to do with leaking. That leaking is because of blockage.

So whom do i believe?

Sometimes a choked fancoil unit will cause water leakage too.

Do a chemical clean & try it out. It might be the backframe dirty
