what is the common SOP of cleaning aircon actually? do they normally clean the roller? my unit is toshiba system 3. noticed very dirty on the roller. asked my regular aircon guy. he said toshiba cannot take out roller one. next time shud get mitsubishi. oh well. my unit always dripping water. if anyone can suggest me a good one.
No SOP all have their own SOP, last time encounter wash filter is basic servicing and try those take out blower 1 which is abit more x , then while i am not in home they tends to eat snake by washing filter and just used cloth to wipe the roller. in the end quite fed up with so call servicing and decided to clean on my own once every 3 month. Try many company once they will do a clean celan servcing once when owner is at home and if the owner know what he is paying for else they will con u de. Dont believe u just try.

I do own servicing too, big case then find them.

But remember to off power and don't damage the fins, or fry the circuits.

not sure is it real but my air con bill went down after I topped up gas. Previously not cold.

dissapointed that I waited almost 2 weeks for the aircon man to come cos of his tight schedule and then he rejected my servicing cos there was no parking at my place. I offered him another place that is about 50m from my place and free parking and offeres to carry his equipment also but he didnt want cos he left already. sian. waste of time waiting for 2 weeks.

I need an aircon man to take out the coil from the FCU and then clean it in the toilet with chemical wash. 2 FCU.

anyone can recommend?
you can try https://aircon.guru, usually can do everything through their website. if you want, you can call their client service lady, Dawn. (6405 0980). good luck

can anyone recommend from heart the aircon provider you are using and not self advertisement by pretending to be others? im sick of ripping off and substandard job..yes im disgusted of such practices
https://aircon.guru, as I mentioned in a different post. so far no complains and for me it was fine. they are also quick quick in their reply

Based on this thread i decided to try this Mr. Ng to fix my casement aircon and what a nightmare! Initially he assessed and concluded that it's a simply a case of coolant top up but told me he had to bring back to his workshop. He quoted me $150 initially i was a bit shocked cos the prices mentioned here hovered around $50+ for actual/split unit but he assured me he would "do a good job" and we settled on $130. A few days passed he came over and reinstalled the unit and just to confirm i ran it one night and after 6 hrs the unit broke down! When he came down he noticed my spoilt multi split unit and told me if i want he can get me a refurbished single split for $9xx and that this was "market price" I was now suspicious because my initial research before getting the casement was single splits and brand new unit can come cheaper than this! So the 2nd time he came he only top up coolant again and sure enuff this time after 3 hrs the unit broke down! My last conversation he told me it was suspected compressor leak and i told him the 1st time he took back to workshop i was under impression that proper assessment of the fault was done and that end of the day i have parted with $130 and had not one but two breakdowns and the problem was not resolved! He said he could fish for a used unit and mentioned something like "transplanting" compressor or the like and to give him "a few days" That was 3 weeks ago :s22:

In conclusion for me

#1 No/not enough due diligence shown - took back unit problem not correctly identified

#2 Not as cheap/professional service as suggested by some in this thread IMO

#3 Little/no follow up

Update:

Short of getting a new air con i decided to roll the dice a final time and engage Trends themselves to troubleshoot and solve the problem and guess what? They did it and gave 1 mth warranty in case the repairs are a botched job! I think it fair to give credit when credit is due : their guys were polite, professional and delivery to my place was prompt and fuss free! Actually i am pleased with my Trends casement (cannot comment on their portable units) performance and based on their post warranty/tech support services i can would gladly recommend their casement aircon line to frens n relatives :D

Aircon problems

Hi All,

I am seeking help from aircon experts here as I am out of ideas already. I am having problems with my aircon.

All 3 fancoils shut down together after 1-2 hours. Error light blinking. Switch it on again and it switches off again after 1-2 hours. Keeps repeating.

Is it the fuse or fan or motor or pcb?

Any suggestions from anyone? Any clues to the problem, please? Thanks!!!

Hi All,

I am seeking help from aircon experts here as I am out of ideas already. I am having problems with my 6 years MHI aircon.

Its best to check whats the error code 1st. Then at least will give u a guide whats the problem. If u want to play safe, get MHI agents to go check the problem.

If the issue will affect all three fancoils , then the issue should be from the outdoor unit. High chance compressor or outdoor unit PCB.
For not common brands, the parts you will expect to be expensive. Be warned :s12:

I checked the error code, seemed to be "compressor position detection error". What is that?

Anatara not that great imho

Just had my aircon system service by Antara as well. Great service by Rizal. Had 4 quotes for replacement of one of the compressor and Antara was the lowest. You can contact Ghani at 97949498

I beg to differ with Antara. I recently requested them to do general maintenance on my aircon. They just did some cleaning, which is fine. However, one of the unit is not warm after the servicing, so asked them down again to look at it. Just said it was insufficient gas and pumped some gas. That same night, the unit was warm again, so called them back. This time, they wanted to pump more gas but I insisted they troubleshoot further, and eventually isolated the fault to some valve. Already paid them for the troubleshooting over $100, and then they quoted $180 to fix the issue with the spare parts - claiming that they are just charging for the spare parts since they already got paid for the servicing. Called Daikin and the equal spare parts is $84, plus $80 for service cost, with one month warranty. So, kind of regretting it now... should have called Daikin straight off and have the problem fixed at $160+, instead of now spending over $300 over 3 trips for Antara. Not very honest in their dealings with me, imho.

Not every contractor will know how to check or repair certain brand of aircon. They may be good at servicing but lack the knowledge on checking skill. Getting a good contractor is not easy & of cos for parts replacement, definitely they will mark up. When they bought the parts from agent, the agent don't warranty them. So they have to Cover your warranty by marking up the price. When comes to servicng, contractor will definitely be cheaper then agents. But when comes to checking or replace parts, agent will be the better choice.

Have u call back the company which u buy the starmex? The company give u how many years of warranty?
Machinery thing hard to say one. Factory manufacturing is luck or real suay luck I have to say. So real good power brand use less 6 month also break down.

Btw I using the same model as your 7 years agao. Still solid.
Hi, hoping to get some answer here,

My 1year 17days old mitsubishi starmex is giving me problem.
after assessment by 2 different group of contractors they both tell me that my "Outdoor Control Board and the Power PC Board " are spoilt and needs to by replaced, anyone have similiar experience?? how much u all paid to get it replaced??

Model of my exterior unit is MXY4G28VAR1

i called and email mitsubishi to appeal but no positive replies...

really disappointed that this aircon spoilt so fast just after 1 year and considering i only moved in end Jan 16, cause reno was around 1 month.

To Repsoi,

MXY-4G28 was just launch a year + ago.
Your best option is to email to Mitsubishi and see if they can waive off the replacement costs.
