Hello all English hopefuls. Since next week got last batch of interviews, they probably want to consolidate and consider all applicants before making offers for the limited slots they may have. Hope enough slots for everyone here. All the best.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I hope I get to matriculate with everyone here this year too!

Wa so many comments while I have been watching guardians by the galaxy. All I can say is I applied for nus 1st choice pharmacy and 2nd choice accountancy in 2015 and I got a "your application has been processed". I thought that AAA/A was 85 points and as I had a rank point higher than 85 I thought I would definitely get in only to realised that the cut off was 87.5 and I did not get in because they did not count my A for biology because of the contrasting subject policy. 2015 they still used hard copy letters. So I only realised I was actually offered accountancy when I received the letter by post. And obviously I did not want to tell people on the forum that I actually did not get into pharmacy because it would make me look bad and the forum was dying anyway. Guessed it made me looked badder now. But who cares?

You don't want us to care? :( Thought you would want us to because you're always telling us about your retake history, what subjects you take, your A-level grades, even stating all your past chemistry marks :( Even as a complete stranger I already know that you have 4A for chemistry from 2013 to 2016 and the lowest you got for chem was 79 for prelim with a 39/40 for mcq which was the highest in school and now you want me to stop being invested in your life???? :(:(:(

If it's due to no contrasting subject that made you ineligible for pharmacy, then how were you offered accountancy? Since the entry requirement to any course needs a contrasting subject.

Ok I have 4 A for triple sci n maths but they count my B for Chinese lit instead of biology. Simple.

I need concrete proof, the facts are so contradicting... show up that offer letter from 2015 (with your name pls) to confirm you're not lying on this thread...

I see. Thus you had a lower RP than what you thought for that year.

Yeah I celebrated too fast as I was too anxious to get in. Which was why I thought the contrasting subject policy ridiculously stupid as I took biology as a private candidate and Biology used to be a prerequisite for pharmacy...

You claimed you were from a Chinese Elective and hence, you must be pretty good in Chinese. So shouldn't you get an A for Chinese Lit? If you have gotten an A, you would have fufilled the criteria easily. Please don't blame the criteria for your incompetency.

Good in chinese yes. But I was only exposed to literature in jc. And I didn't know the bell curve was where I had to compete with foreigners. In fact I was the only Singaporean with the combination in my whole jc.

It also doesn't mean I have to be good in chinese to join clep. In fact I have both b3 for higher chinese and chinese. It taught me that interest means nothing in Singapore at least when it comes to exams.

Okay,we dont talk about grades. Lets just talk about how you are completely unaware of the rules amd regulations implemented. Its clearly stated that your h1 must be a contrasting subs which means that if you are taking sciences and math for h2,for h1,it must be smth that is not related to it,which in your case, they took chinese instead of biology. LOL,pretty damn sure everyone is aware of this. So dont blame the education system for being so stringent, when its explicitly stated there. Yes everyone agrees that nth is fair about it,but its the truth.
