So you recommend the newer MBP? I find the new MBP 2017 really hassle with the need to add on adapter just for USB, HDMI and memory card. And do you think 2 thunderbolt port is enough for a laptop? Be it 1 using for charging.

As for MBP 15 they stop getting in stock, but I can only find the 128GB storage over at challenger. Is 128GB usually enough?

Thanks

there r a few available in e Apple Refurb Store...

just curious, does Apple conduct any checks when one place order via Education store?

Random online, yes in store. When I bought my iPad Pro in the retail store they made me produce my student ID or acceptance letter. Good thing is for subsequent purchases in store you probably won’t be checked anymore as the specialist recorded my edu info down.

That's great to know :) thanks for explaining though :D

Anyway do you think MBP 2015 128GB is enough? As I only can find the 128GB version at challenger.

Or what do you think about MacBook Air?

Thanks

Depends on your requirements. If you don't intend to store a lot of photos, videos or other high capacity stuffs then 128GB is enough. I mainly store mine in an external HDD or thumbdrives but my 512GB model still have over 300GB free. The reason why I purchased the 512GB one is for its dedicated GPU as I do photo editing.

If you're a student or whose requirement only demands some Internet usage, doing office documents, e-mail or video streaming, the Air should suffice but to me, it's quite under-powered.

I suggest getting the Pro instead due to many significant upgrades over the Air. Though more expensive but it's more 'future-proof' and don't have to upgrade for some time :)

I think i will get the 256GB, will be much safer. Do you think getting the 2016 MBP refurbished model will be good comparing to 2017 MBP?

If you're comparing the 2016 and current MBP, I'll still go for the latest.

ohh. I have narrow down my choices:

- MBP 15 '13 Refurbish 256GB
- MBP 16 '13 Refurbish w Touch Bar 256GB
- MBP 17 '13 w Touch Bar 256GB

If you need the ports without having to lug out adapters, then 2015. Else will be the current 2017 model.

what happen?

my wifi on 5ghz drops drastically to double digit speed in my room after a short period of usage..
only happen yesterday and before this, it was perfectly fine. used my wife's 2011 MBP, speed was still normal.. apple concluded my network card on the 2017 MBP has issues. cos without usb c accessories plugged, or any other devices connected to the same network, speed still dropped in safe mode. it would start at 878 Mbps then drops to 13 Mbps.. sometimes as low as 7 Mbps..

sorry to hear that.

what happened during the collection at the store?

Initially when I collected, they packed the MacBook Pro and told me to test at home.. didn't even offer to setup.. then I told them I wanted to do a setup to ensure things were running fine.. found something amiss about the battery. Posed them a couple of questions.. couldn't answer me at all.

Which were a brand new MacBook Pro that comes with already 2 charge cycle and why is the max charge capacity fluctuating up and down

All I can say to new MBP/ MBA/ MB buyers is if you are expecting a "0" charge cycle for your BNIB purchase you can dream on. Not going to happen.

Is the same for have 0KM on a Brand New car
