Does anyone know if this could work on a RF connector? The converter looks like this. http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/F-Type-Coaxial-Coax-F-plug-male-to-PAL-male-plug-Connector-adapter-SATELLITE-TV/161064863767?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I have something like this in all of my rooms and I am thinking is a RF socket?

Careful, unlike MOCA, DECA conflicts with cableTV frequency

Which means you most likely have to disconnect the DECA network from the cableTV network

Or disconnect the FM and use the FM cabling. Because nobody listens to radio.

There are 2 type of convertors that you can use for the wall sockets.

The one you showed is the F-type male to PAL male convertor.

There is another one called F-type female to PAL male convertor.

http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/Gold-Coa...568312?hash=item35e274bdf8:g:~f0AAOSwMpZUnMFe

The description may be a bit confusing but if you concentrate on the biological description (for the center conductor) you can tell the difference between the 2 convertors from the pictures.

So you have to look carefully at the cable you will be using to decide which is the correct one.

This deca adapter is fast Ethernet only. If that serves ur need it's a very cost effective option. Just b aware of the performance.

Quote:

MoCA is a standard for networking over coaxial cables in the home, set by the Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance. The standard takes its name from the group, like ATSC. For purposes of this post, MoCA is a standard.

DECA is DirecTV Ethernet-to-Coaxial Adapter. It is a piece of hardware. Not a standard.

So what is it hardware for? Simple – MoCA. Yes, DirecTV uses MoCA. The DECA is just the adapter needed to connect an DirecTV receivers Cat5 Ethernet port to the MoCA coaxial network.

...

So yes, it is all MoCA, but it is MoCA using two different frequency bands. So a DirecTV MoCA network will not interoperate with a a cable MoCA network. And you can run them over the same coax – cable MoCA would conflict with DirecTV’s video signal, and DirecTV MoCA would conflict with cable’s video signal. So if you’re running DirecTV over your home coax and you want to connect other devices to your MoCA network, such as a gaming console, you’ll need a DECA for that as well as you need mid-range MoCA.

This is the back view of a convention matv outlet. It shows 2 clasps for the in and out cables. There is only one cable feeding both TV and FM signals. The FM socket gets the FM through a band II pass filter.

Should be ok. U just need an adapter to convert TV port to CATV female

Whats that? Is that like a splitter?

Those sockets are not used by anyone in the house. So I guess its fine to just plug it into the TV RF Socket directly right?

From what I see, the DC connector is female so it has to connect to the male port in the Deca. This leaves the female end. So I'm guessing I need a male to male adapter.

Just praying that it'll work cause I'm a newbie at this. Thanks for the replies guys!

So do I have to connect it to the FM or TV socket?

How exactly do I connect this? The voltage in usa is 110v-120v. While Singapore's voltage is 220v- 240v. Does this support 110v-240v? Or do I have to get a step down voltage adapter?

If I want to connect to the internet from the source to another room as a WIFI alternative, will this work?

I see three parts. The power adapter at the top connects to the left side of the device in the middle using the jack? The device at the bottom connects to the right side of the device in the middle through the cable attached?

The ethernet cable from the modem/router than connects to the right sided RJ45 port of the bottom device? With the protruding part (connector F ?) connecting to the coaxial cable socket? Is that how it works?

So if I would like to connect the other end of the network to a PC, I would need another set of this? Just like how a homeplug/powerline works? They need to work in pairs? The DECA device can be placed at either end in any orientation right?

No such things as Ethernet In (modem side) on one side of the network, and Ethernet Out (PC side) on the other side of the network? The DECA device will auto handle the in outs of the Ethernet?

Have you tried this out? You are connecting though the old MATV coaxial cable right? Does it work when we use a adapter to convert the connector F on the cable to connect to the old MATV socket?

Where can I get a step down transformer for the DECA device? Any recommendations? I know Sim Lim tower have. What about online? Is the price better? What wattage for the transformer is needed to power the DECA? How many watts is the deca power adapter?

Don't think you'll need, see if you can find a high res photo of the power supply and see if it says 100-240V.

Also, they can also be powered by USB.

you mean there is actually a usb port on the DECA device? Does this mean I can use this to power the device instead of the power adapter? A adapter that converts the power socket to a USB port. Will this work?

The adapter works like an ethernet switch or a set of homeplug; E.g. u plug in the "input" to any of the Lan port, all the other lan ports will be the "output".

U can use other adapters as long it output 5v and the minimum amperage to power the adapter, and fit the port type. If I not wrong it's .3 amp, which most USB ports able to power it.
