To be safe, I closed it a few days after they've made the seventh deduction. So for eg if your monthly deduction amount is $50, close it after it hits $350 (before including the bonus interest). While you're in the branch to initiate the closing, you can get the staff to verify again for you (you can see account opening date on the closure slip). I did it this way and there weren't any issues.

Mine was opened on Apr 1, contribution every 7th, last contribution Oct 7. Total is $350. I just closed the account today. Would there be issue? I forgot to check first with the staff.
