i heard that prudential is the only coy that covers term till 99?
how useful is this?
if cover till 99, isnt this bao-jiak, per se?
@37ANB, for 500k term, the premium is 2.8k/yr.
so total premium is 177k , but your dependent will get 500k.
unless of coz prudential folds.

the premiums are fixed for the entire 99years rite?

Pru is not the only one with Term till 99, other players have it too.

One only get Death cover till 99 if there's a need, please keep ur TPD and CI till appropriate age.

what would constitute a need?
would a term plan be considered as leaving a gift for the surviving spouse (females have higher longevity than male) and the kids?

U need to eat at least 2 meals per day.
U wish to have 3 proper meals per day and still be able to snack on chips and ice cream with a can of Coke in you hand every day.
That's how u differentiate 'em.

would a term plan be considered as leaving a gift for the surviving spouse (females have higher longevity than male) and the kids?
Well yes...in a way... but it depends on how u actually plan it such that it would be more meaningful rather than just let it be an agent's trick to con you your signature.

Purchase of a 99 year policy is more like purchasing a perpetual option. You keep the option for a payout sometime within the 99 years (which is effectively a lifetime). The only unknown here is when it is triggered :D

So, you can't really calculate the total premium to be between now until 99 years old, you're paying less than the total of 177k since nobody knows when the end point of the premium payment is.

You could consider it as a form of legacy planning but there are better ways to achieve your intended goal.

Just to illustrate:

If you take the "return" based on the full 63 years of coverage, your return is 1.66% pa.

If you can capture the "return", at say, 85 years old, your return is 2.67% pa.

So, if i were to lay it out like that, it seems obvious that there are many other ways to exceed the 2.67% minimum return hurdle and, more importantly, still be able to enjoy some of your allocated wealth while you're still around to enjoy it.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. Appreciate it bro.

I am still trying to optimize what is the best combination to achieve 800k death/tpd and 300k CI. Was thinking of supplementing it with Aviva SAF GTL.

Can i also check what are the cheapest plan for the following:

31ANB, Male Non-smoker
1a) 200k death/TPD, 200k CI till age 65
1b) 200k death/TPD, 200k CI till age 70
2a) 300k death/TPD, 300k CI till age 65
2b) 300k death/TPD, 300k CI till age 70
