my car was registered on the 9, collected on the 14. Could have collected as early as 11, but i chose not to as it was a weekday. Leave cost more than the depreciation. That 3-5 days won't matter in your 10 years of ownership. Don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy your new car!

Chill... I think everyone knows the part about depreciation. If one feels that he can take a few days... Then take a few days. If cannot, go for dealers that can promise you same day registration and collection.

Just like buying a plate of chicken rice... If you think that you can queue... Then eat at the hawker centre... Cannot, buy food from the shortest queue... Or if you must have chicken rice, go to a restaurant. 😅

At then end of the day, we are all right... None of us are wrong... We all make decisions that will make us happy 😊.
No, I'm not saying one cannot take it, then don't, I'm just querying on the need to do so, and hoping that the buyer isn't taken for a spin without properly getting reimbursed.

I've had friends registered theirs at least 2 weeks ahead so that the SE can close their numbers, but they were reimbursed accordingly above the depreciation value.

To me it's pretty straight forward, I buy the car to keep at home and let it depreciate is my cost at my disposal, not the seller's.

Collected car yesterday at 5.30pm. So what one if you mentioned about no collection on weekends is not true. SE explained that the crowd would be larger and he may not be able to let spend quality time going through the features of the car. (paperwork and all... Need about 1hr.) I told him that I'd probably be able to figure out a lot of things on my own... So the whole taking over and handling over of my old car took 45min. Everything was good and professional, except... My leather steering wrap was not done. My original agent is on leave for whole of last week and she was very apologetic. Said that she'll get it done when is send car in for 1k service. I'm OK with that cos my main object was to get the car earlier so that I can get 1k service done before driving up Malaysia during the Mar hols. Btw, the showroom was extremely crowed. SE confirmed that it could be due to double effect of lower COE and potential increase of GST in 3 yrs.

The car feels lively, I prefer the suspension to that of my 2009 Altis. On the whole, my wife agrees with me that it feels like an upgrade (without burning a hole in the pocket). The signal lever on the left will take awhile to get used to (altis was on the right) everything else was pretty idiot proof. What love the sound system as well. My previous 3 Toyota's stock HU cannot make it. The Elantra's is good enough for me and I probably would do anymore upgrades like I did for the Toyotas. On the whole, we also like the sound proofing and sound damping. Not extremely quiet... But gives a confident thump over bumps. The keyless ignition would also take a bit of getting used to.

FC after driving 105 km.. 50%highway, is 12km/l as reflected by instrument panel. Gonna use up the litre that comes with the car before roping up full tank of caltex to compare efficiency.

Anyone else who have collected their car? Wanna share your experiences? Will be good reference for those who are considering this car.

Dude, any car bought around 2008 and earlier to 2010 or so, cannot compare with the cars these days.

Cars these days are like a mini computer with all those wu-eh-bo ones. :s13: Comparing with my Vios (2008), your car will be a super computer too :D

My Mz3 the start button on left, everything else remain on right. Conti designs are opposite, everything on left.

Yes. I know that. That's why, to me... It must feel like an upgrade... Again... Without burning a hole in my pocket. The new altis is an upgrade too... But at a much heftier price. My personal preference and opinion.

Never listen to salesman talk. GST only applicable to OMV, which the impact is quite minimum. Some more is 3 years later. The one need to look up is the coming JUN revision of emission requirement. JAN on already a big impact to those car 2.0L and those well know conti brand. Once these car get price out of reach, more COE will become available. Just like current weak cat B COE status.

Didn't I just say it... why are you repeating what I said. :s8:

So you're willing to book a hotel room 3 days in advance and only reach 3 days after?

It's not about being calculative. There's money and depreciation here. Once the car is registered, depreciation kicks in. You did pay for the car plates, IU, registration and admin costs in case you didn't realise and thought all these come free with the car.

Registration is only 5 minutes work and they don't need to go to LTA to get it done. So I don't see how your POV justifies them to register the car early.

No different if you booked a hotel but decided not to use it.
Life is not perfect, cannot assume someone is always there waiting just to register that 1 car. If so calculative, must well consider pay only when you get the car. No point for paying a deposit.

Collected on Saturday at 4pm.

Collection was swift. Scratches was found on the front bumper. Decided to collect and rectify during 1000km servicing.

Odo was at 40km (which is quite high?).
Clock 160km on Sunday. Petrol consumption on panel is 14km/l. Light foot with the accelerator. Got horn for moving off and accelerate slow. Will need to find out during the subsequent pump.

Drive is smooth and quiet. Noise insulation, isnt that bad on the highway. Suspension is firm. Compared to my previous experience, driving a rio 06, it is definitely a better experience.

Don't really like the engine brake when braking. At times can feel the downshift of the gear. May need to get use to it. Have been driving manual cars (free wheel during braking) for the past 8 yrs.

Smart trunk is useful. Needed it yesterday when carrying lots of bags after shopping.

Hi guys, and welcome to the Hyundai family.

Been driving the Elantra since Mar 15 and my avg FC is 14km/l with 30% highway driving.

So, who says Korean car's FC is not good enough?

Anyway, just pop in to see if any bro's have bought wipers from taobao before and/or have any recommendations, local stockist can do too?

Thanks.

After pumping spc 95, fuel consumption dropped to 11.5km/l on the panel as compared to previous 13.5-14km/l (petrol filled by kmc)!

Any drivers here achieve diff result with diff petrol and which petrol brand gives u the best fc?

Life is not perfect and not following common rules and means to do things are different.

Deposit is to secure a car not about being calculative. Deposit wise we're already mentally prepared to lose on interest - but hey, we earn on credit card rebates. Registering the car earlier has NO benefit, which the market practice is - can be done ONE day before - need not be done MANY days before.

I think if you just want to debate for the sake of debating, at least bring on better points. If all you want to do, is take things out of context, draw analogies that don't make sense, then it only shows one thing, ya?

U can also use total mileage divided by liter of petrol u pump. Manual calculation better

Saw a few newly registered elantra come with body kit.

Need to pay for it and how much or given free by the SE?

(with the body kit is nice. If I am the owner. Also love to have it)
