yes...whole set.
if you don't want to trouble shoot one by one,
Ok, i may diy to change all 4 coils since I have not change it after getting the ride.

If intermittent vibration still exist, it could be something else.

Tats y plug in the obd scan. Misfire will show error on which cylinder. Other causes could be fuel pump. But it’s best u do the scan first. Most workshops can do it

Thanks for the explanation. My initial guess are EM or ignition coils or both.

I have changed spark plugs, air filter, cleaned MAF and throttle body few months back during servicing but the intermittent vibration was still there.

Another suspected culprit could be the ignition coils. The car will sometimes slight jerk forward when I move from stationary(in drive mode) or when I brake towards stop position.

I managed to get a obd device and connect to my car. Use the below app to connect to the one device.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner

Drove around the carpark. And it doesn't show me any errors under Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

No need drive the car. Just turn ignition switch to on will do. If no misfiring then likely engine mount which u still have to let workshop do, so might as well ask them scan just to be sure

Hi TS,

Based on your description, it is less likely the Engine mount. (although the EM is always the vibration causing)

is looked like misfired to me, EM when getting old there will be vibration for sure, but the vibration is consistent and in small scale, if intermittent on and off bigger vibration usually due to the misfired, especially when idling if you still can find on and off bigger vibration. (spark plug + the spark wired, you can ask the workshop to check this part, they will put the spark plug one by one out to see which one causing the issue, this phenomenon usually caused by aging spark plug and component)

my Old Camry have the exact symptoms and was rectified, now run like a new car.
replacing EM is more expensive than to replace the spark plugs, suggest to do the this before the EM replacement.

Hey bro, driving an older Camry as well.

Been having the same exact issues as TS and yourself for a while now.

I've already changed engine mounts, spark plugs, cleaned throttle body, maf sensor, topped up Aircon oil, but the problem still persists.

Does changing of the ignition coils really help reduce the vibrations? Is it just the ignition coil or the wires as well?

Yes ignition coils, fuel pump, fuel injectors, idle control valve.

Yes, changing ignition coil definitely helps, best change whole sets of 4. if wanted to drive long, all because the parts are aging la, high temperature will melt some of the wire.

of course to have best result in order to have a quiet engine, EM also change la, $$$.
usually recon car all do these, + change of suspension.

Driving a thai made, scrapping soon, coe end July, bought new car Prius hybrid (delivery April), wasted as it is quite a reliable car though.

want a quiet good ride always need to maintain it. car ownership is expensive...

Yup. Driving the same model as you.
It's reliable but very fuel inefficient.
Also, being Thai made, lots of rattling noises.

You probably need not go to the petrol station that often with your new prius. Haha. Enjoy your new ride!

Hi all,

I change all engine mountings, CVT oil and cvt filter. Car no longer vibrate and pick up is so much faster and quieter.

Am thinking if want to replace ignition coils or not.
