Buy from M1 shop / IT Show / Roadshow. Usually got promo. Let me know too :)

Getting new Prepaid SIM card do come with some free goodies.

Don't forget to De-registered expired & used Prepaid SIM at certain Telco retail shops.

If you do not do it and get the 4th Prepaid SIM under your name, although you can start to use in the beginning.

But the Prepaid SIM will be de-activated once it detected there are more than 3 Prepaid SIM card under your name & NRIC.

Regards.
Thanks for advices. When getting new M card or top up, I am looking at $5 type. The card main purpose is for emergency call or sms, data is good to have.

How frequent m1 offer the $5 M card at discounted price (without bundle with fibre BB or mobile contact)?

If to top up $5, best deal is when qoo10 Mamego $3 . Is it rarely come out this promo?
If not it will be $4 + $1 Qpoint.
I found out this qoo10 $5 top up come with free 500MB 7 days, free 15 local sms for 180 days and 60days validity.

Usually IT show / PC show has promo for $5 top up? Or promo limited to $10 above top up?

Really? The $5 one gives free data? The $3 offer hasn't been around since last year probably. Only the $10 one recently . I topped up that and got a 500mb once which I thought was weird. Other tries did not give though, so I thought it was probably a mistake

Yes. I was surprised too. I topped up from q10 $5 and got that. Later received sms, this offer only applicable to 1st top up and to selected customer.

Not sure whether below this is of any help to you...

Last year (2017) I encountered -- MORE THAN ONCE -- slow / poor Internet access when using M1 prepaid in Malaysia.

Can't really remember whether I was connected to 3G or 4G -- when I kenna slow Internet while using M1 prepaid in Malaysia.

Didn't want to waste time troubleshooting -- so in the end I switched to using M'sia Digi prepaid or Starhub prepaid -- for Internet access in subsequent trips to Malaysia.

This year (2018) never try using M1 prepaid in Malaysia.

BTW...

Huawei E5573 is one of those mobile routers (MiFi) that I also have. Can't set your preferred DNS inside E5573 settings -- have to manually set the DNS I want to use at my phone WiFi settings.

E5573 is a lightweight mobile router -- but battery cannot last whole day. So I bought spare battery for the E5573 on Taobao.com :)

so disappointing. still no improvement after all these years. a few years back, i had a hard time trying to get data flowing when roaming on celcom. when in indonesia, data didn't even work when roaming on xl.

on mcard, $5 gives us 1gb valid for 3 days. i guess it makes more sense to transfer to a local card rm10 for $4.80. rm10 can buy us much more data valid for many days.

i'm not a fan of mobile router. but i have a habit of quickly swapping sim cards on the bus as i reached the checkpoint. as a result, i lost my card last week and had to pay $37.50 for replacement. ouch!!

hopefully by using a mobile router there is no need to swap cards and decrease the likelihood of losing cards.

Eh is it me, or why would anyone top up 18/19/28/30 to get 8 bonus (M1 promo IT show).

Just do $10x2 and get 10 bonus or $10x3 and get 15 bonus?

I used M Card for roaming last week and Celcom 4G was ok for the whole day though. Maybe you should just use it on your phone.
