are u connected by wifi or lan? if lan u should be able to hit the same speed as him.

Lan yet im getting 40% of the speed :(

Starhub tech support really makes no sense telling me by connecting ONT>LAPTOP i will get full speed while connecting ONT>ROUTER>LAPTOP i will get less.

Previously when i used M1 fibre 500mbps plan by using ONT>ROUTER>LAPTOP i can get more than 400mbps! Now starhub 1gbps using ONT>ROUTER>LAPTOP i can get less than 450 mbps!

Did you enable any other functions like firewall,QoS ect?

Most consumer level routers can only do gigabit when minimal routing features are enabled. Enabling those features significant choke the performance of the router

Possible due to certain batch of the this router model may not be good enough.
Mine able to reached close to 500mbps for wireless when newly installed but not using it anymore.

Noted your posts in their forum as you are not the only one having such problem while connected via this router.

Have you follow the Guide to update to the latest firmware before using.

Do use their speedtest tool > Starhub Local Speedtest
And use their ideal > Typical Speed Range
And tested devices > Fibre Compatible Devices
To see how they would response.. interesting.

Frankly i forgotten on the speedtest for lan connection as i did not wrote on the review on this model done in July 2017 prior Starhub released.
The Linksys router had already passed to my brother, so unable to test now.
But i would say above 600+ mbps as mine standard even now using DLink DIR-868L routers.
As most of the time using Chrome which is giving this result but on IE is excellent.

It is the wireless signal that is good, refer to > My Review on Linksys

Anyway your result is still below average and possible do a wireless speedtest via phone.

Best is to get Linksys tech support to assist you or even worst case replacement.

Someone did a replacement and result is good, refer > Here! which result with 950mbps both ways.

As for the IPTV you can get either 1TB or 2TB of WD My Passport external harddisk for recording.

Are you still using starhub 1gbps fibre? If yes, which router are you using now?

My S9+ getting d/l 177mbps and upload 332mbps.

Yes i am also on HomeHub 1000 with IPTV on free subscription since Jan 2017.
I am using 2 routers both same model DLink DIR-868L which was issued to me on a trial more than 2 years ago.

Your S9+ result is low especially for download.
As my phone although is S6 do able to have much higher connection speed, refer to the review.

There is possible your Linksys router may do have issue.

Your router now is giving you how much speed? I'm thinking of changing router so no idea which router is good.

I called linksys earlier and seems like the speed is still around d/l 429 and u/p 562. I tried connecting straight to the starhub modem and the speed range about the same too.

I called starhub and told them about the speed im getting from their modem. THey told me they will close the work order or whatever it is and call me back in 24 hours time to check the speed again.

Well just did the test on using the laptop on Win 7, which is quite old.
On Starhub d/l 331 & u/p 630 and on Speedtest.net d/l 302 u/p 891 based on 3 test results.
Average i may able to have d/l 600+ u/p 900+ as i monitor from time to time.
Hence i am not too worry on these result as it serve me well for years.

It is good to have a spare routers, which i do have an older model DIR-865L for cable broadband which contract had just ended.

As for which is good router, i am unable to advice you on this as using the supplied routers.
Maybe i am lucky to have a reasonable good & stable routers.

You may seek others on routers such as you are looking at Asus RT-AC88U which there do have users to provide you the details.
Starhub fibre broadband can accept other routers without much issue.

Just monitor your connection and ensure it give you constant connection.
As for the speedtest do monitor but testing at varies timing period and days.
If it is consistent having low speed then maybe you could contact 1633 direct to broadband tech support line.
Request for to refresh your IP as it may sometimes due to IP is bad.
This did happened to me and after a change of IP the connection is stable.

For your info i do not power off or restart both ONT and Routers.
Only if and when there is a slight hiccup on the connection, restart both devices would help.

I was able to get d/l 600+ u/p 900+ when i called linksys for troubleshooting but then it just drop back to around d/l 429 and u/p 562 and staying this range. Linksys told me to contact starhub since direct connection to the modem is the same too. :( Hopefully starhub can fix it as the issue most likely needs to be fixed by them. I will complain to them until they fix it :s16:

Direct lan or wifi?

As it seems like either your cable or pc is kimiting the speed to a fast Ethernet XD
Lan and I tested it from starhub modem to my pc. When I connect modem to router to pc now I'm getting that speed too. I don't think it's my cable or pc issue because when I was using m1 fibre I don't have such problems.

Try to do a restart the ONT/modem.

Power Off and remove the power adapter from the power source for a couple of seconds or a minute.
Reconnect and Power On the ONT and wait for the PON indicator stable.

Then power on the computer and wait 2 minutes before surf or speed test.

If possible do request for new IP.

There do have such problem as encountered by others, see other posts in that forum.

My issue was PC -> ONT full speed. PC->router->ont slow. Turns out it was due to WiFi. After I disable the wifi, then I was able to get full Lan speed. The router was balancing the speed between WiFi and Lan. Both my 868L and EA7500 has similar result

First time I heard of such router.. Lol..

Alot of consumer routers are design this way. The switch and the WiFi AP have to share their bandwidth.

Most even have only 1g link to the switch preventing 1g upload and download at the same time
