If I am not mistaken enabling dual wan disables the USG hardware offload. preventing it from reaching even 1gbps wan speeds.

That is not true. I have 2 x 1Gbit links set in load-balancing and hardware offload is enabled. Able to reach 1gbit wan speeds.

I see. Are you able to get 2gbps throughoughput as well?

Never been able to generate that much traffic. Also, patiently waiting for Ubiquiti to provide a GUI exposed policy based routing configurator. My main gripe is that I cannot bond both of the LAN ports on the PRO4 to give me a 2gbps aggregated link between the switch and router. Now need to do separate VLANS on both ports.

was reviewing my layout and realised i favour aesthetic (hide somewhere, not visible) over better WIFI coverage.

Also found out that to install AP on gypsium board/false ceiling, you use this screw called molly bolt/molly fastener. It is better than plain using a drywall screw.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_(fastener)

I used the 3M Picture hanging strips, so no need to pierce any holes into the false ceiling

Used 2 strips and so far so good

USG is good enough with dpi on. Can't enable IPS though.

No need for qos with 1gbps pipe.

From their documentation the USG can only do 85Mpbs with IPS. 250Mbps for the USG pro and 1Gbps for the USG xg.

I have Suricata (IPS) on opnsense running on a dell r210ii without any slowdown

Should I mount my unifi ap? I don't have any false ceiling.

Mounting APs on the ceiling is the way to go. No false ceiling means u must use trunkings.

Although i was reading the unifi forum, there are loads of people who did not mount and still have good results

so its really confirmed 1Gbps can be achieved with dpi on for USG? read on ubiquiti forums some have varying results. not referring to usg pro

just got mine set up

USG-PRO-4
US-16-150W
UAP-AC-PRO
UC-CK
Mounted on a 6U Startech wall mount, bought a 1U PDU (UK PLUG), hid it inside a small closet which used to house my AC68U router.

For those using viewqwest, when you switch to the new USG, please call their technical hotline 3102 0000 and inform them you are switching to a new networking device. They will check from their end and "clear" the old MAC ID from their system.

Upgraded both switch and AP but the USG i just leave it as it is because I want to monitor if there are any random reboots. My USG was tested in April 2018. Not sure if the problem was fixed by then. I also changed to 2 Noctua fans. Tried the original fans and it was ridiculously loud. The Noctua fans are very silent but my hardware are running hot. Monitoring for a few days first before buying a small USB fan to cool it.

Also saving up to buy a rackmount NAS (still thinking about it though) but for now the internet is temporarily settled till the inch starts again. :D

I can achieve 930 up/down on a viewqwest connection and on a i3 nuc. I think so long can touch 900... It's good enough. With dpi on.
