Does any one know if Singtel terminates 12 months contract plans? On their websites, it only has 24 months.

12 months contract is still available via shop/phone sign up only, cost about 59.90 monthly. its not advertised on singtelshop online...

thinking of switching to SingTel Fibre and TV bundle because of Discovery Channels... 2 questions:

1. what is the typical download speed from those file hosting services such as uploaded.net, by using download manager like IDM or iGetter?

2. if using ONR, does IPTV use one Lan port of ONR? eg I have 3 Lan ports to use for my own NAS and AP?

1. not personally using, so unable to advise.. :)

2. thats right.. ONR comes with an AP too, so you have 7 ports altogether(one port of ONR goes to WAN port of AP)..

hi does anyone know whether singtel issues ONT or ONR for fibre broadband? based on my household setup, ONR would be necessary as the digital TV box would be quite far away from the wireless router location. do i have to tell singtel this? or they will provide ONR once they arrive?

Hope I don’t misunderstand, you meant SingTel provide ONR (modem-router), and a separate AP?

ONR is ONT+router (with no wireless capability).

For new sign ups, will be given ONR+wireless router ac plus (which acts as an AP automatically when connected to ONR).

For existing ONT setup, wireless router ac plus will become a router automatically when connected to ONT.

you don't have to tell them what you need, cos you will be given according to the status of your sign up, eg new sign up or existing recontract.

existing recontract will not have a change of equipment if your existing ones are deemed capable.

New sign ups are given ONR+AP automatically.

i'm currently still running singtel cable broadband due to delays since april this year. only this weekend was opennet finally able to install FTP in my household. i'm guessing i'm considered a recontract since i'm upgrading from existing singtel cable to singtel fibre.

my home is currently running starhub cable tv service as well. was also wondering how this will be affected with the move to fibre est 2020. is it possible to run both singtel fibre for internet and also starhub fibre for their TV in the future? i'm guessing that's why FTP has 2 ports?

Ok they will give ac router... do I own it (so I can sell it) or I have to return it to SingTel if I am no longer with them? Cause I have Orbi Mesh which I will use as AP.

Well it seem that you do not have FTP and so Starhub did not offer any free fibre broadband to you.
Starhub are pushing to some customers on offer to upgrade from cable tv to fibre tv with free fibre broadband.
Cable network may cease earlier maybe next year, as est is early 2020.

FTP has 2 ports mainly for Internet and Pay-TV on separate service providers.
Singtel has already offer independent ONT for MioTV except Starhub still insist on both Internet & TV on fibre bundle.

Does anyone know, for singtel fibre, does the olt authenticate on sn+pw or just pw for ont/onr?
Cos if its pw alone, we might be able to just replace the onr with our own ont..
(I know malaysia go by pw only, whats the chances here?)

what cat ethernet cable did singtel provide for connecting your ont/onr to router? mine is running with cat 5e cables even though the fibre network was just set up recently. is this normal? thought would supply at least cat 6. furthermore the cable is routed through trunking so not easy to replace

Hello,

I am the new tenant of my place and I am having problems terminating the previous fibre service.

The current acount holder (met her once before I moved in) has left SG without terminating the Singtel fibre service. Now that I am taking over the tenancy of this place (new tenancy agreement), I want to terminate this account and apply for a nee service under my name.

I was told by Singtel to obtain an authorization from her, which I already have, and pay the outstanding balance before they can terminate the account. I don't want to pay the amount, it's kins of unfair for me to pay for someone who ran away from her contract.

Has anyone been in the same situation and can give me advice on what can I do?

There a 2 fibre ports per house, just sign another isp (eg m1) and let singtel chase her themselves

I went to StarHub just now to apply and was told by the StarHub guy that the signal will be very very weak and will take me three months to get service from them. Is this true?

Just go for m1 mate. M1 latency is good, and price is cheap ($39 for 1gbps)
Signal wont weak. There are 2 dedicated strand of fibre to yr house from netlink trust..
