Was considering A2 after A1 becomes super lag for me. But now see Poco is faster, has SD card slot and phone jack, bigger battery. If the price is not too far off from A2, shall wait for it.

Should just go for mi a2. Price different will be around 100++

A2 also will get update android p and android q.

It's like comparing apples with oranges. Mi A2 has SD660. Pocophone F1 has SD845.

I was also looking at the A2; the small battery of 3000 mAh put me off. Though that should be mitigated by the stock Android experience which has no bloatware, as long as you don't consider Google Apps as bloatware. :)

A2 is for those who die-die must get stock Android phones. If that's the case, then your choice will be a lot more limited.

What is the difference with this overseas set and the local set?

Local set will have one year local warranty at the Xiaomi Service Centre in sg. However, if you hop over to the Xiaomi Service Centre thread, it appears that recently the reviews aren't so good. Some even say might as well not bother with the local warranty.

I posted that link for those with itchy hands and bigger budgets who want to get their hands quickly on the Pocophone F1.

Based on the way they are launching this phone, it appears to be targeted straight away for a global audience, with the announcement tomorrow (27 August) in Paris, HK, and Jakarta. It will also launch in India this coming week. So, expect phones with Global ROM straight away.

For me, it all boils down to local pricing which I hope they will shed some light about it tomorrow. As mentioned if it isn't significantly more expensive than Mi A2, it is quite clear which one to go for unless Stock Android is a must. Glad I didn't rush to get the A2 6/128.

To your point on service centre, my 2 recent trips down has me convinced this chosen 3rd party firm they outsourced to is really just plain bad, service attitude is horrid. Rude staff is the one that triggered me the most.

Local pricing is never competitive.Till date always need to add additional sgd30 to the announce pricing after currency conversion

Mi A2 4/64 local set is retailing at SGD 369. Lowest speced Pocophone F1 is 6/64. Will be interesting to see the launch prices in the various countries.

You're right. It isn't.

The 6/64 variant will retail for INR 20999 which is about SGD 410. My guess is that it will be between SGD 450 - 500 for sg.

Local set also always get the lowest variant. Never the high end

I agree.

However this time, things *might* be different as this appears to be targeted to a global audience. Not your usual "release everything in China first then slowly release in other countries", like the Mi Max 3.

I'm not holding my breath anytime until I hear the official announcement though.

A faster phone with big battery is more important for me now. I also prefer SD card slot which A2 does not have.

If F1 is less than $100 more than A2 I will go for F1.

Probably export set Pocophone can eventually get below SGD 400. Maybe SGD 399.90. :s22:

Depend stocks can meet the demand. Otherwise black market will happen.

Now is 500 for the lowest variant.official price will be around 499sgd and 529sgd for the 6/64 and 6/128. Between A2 and Mi8

Depend what phone u using now. SD card seem like optional which is good to have. My advise is always get the 128gb version if 64gb is not enough. SD card do cause the phone to slow down.

Tempted...

Not a fan of screen notches but SD845 and 4000mAh sets the bar very high for this price point. I don't think anyone else can compete at this price point. Those who can, won't want to.
