Real world usage will always differ from manufacturer claims, regardless of what industry you’re looking at. However, Apple’s claims have always been a pretty reasonable estimate of real world usage.

Therefore, the battery life on the XR should definitely be substantially better than the XS & XS Max. Again, this can only be verified after the phone is launched.

The fact is that XR is already cannibalizing XS. Not the Max. The XS isn’t selling very well at all. Loads of people are waiting for the XR. Take China for example, the XR comes with dual physical SIM compared to the XS, it’ll definitely cannibalize the sale of XS based solely on this point.

Let me reiterate, improve in battery life is NOT due to screen resolution. It’s due to the the display panel. LCD vs OLED. LCD consumes less power as compared to OLED.

Should be the other way la oled more power efficient...

Resolution will also affect battery life as more power is drawn from processor to process image
To fill more pixels
Battery test result xs max lost to a 1080p note 9 by 37 min while 1440p note 9 lost to the xs max by 1 min

Thanks for the clarification, looks like my assumption was wrong all along!

I still stand by the other points in my post though.

Iphone X to XR is a downgrade and why would u even consider XR
Iphone X is closest to the XS so ur basically saying u got xs but wants to change to xr because xs is not good enough

If ur concern about battery life, no iphones will be good for u. Theoretically xr will have better battery life because it is using 720p display
However Apple has the habit of using small battery sizes to keep its slim design
The xr likely will have the same battery life as iphone 8 which isn't that great

Great battery life u should look at android phones with 4000 / 5000 mah battery
Like mate 10/ p20 pro

From your requirements P20 pro suits u more because it has a good camera with great battery life

Or pixel 2 xl from last year

Or decently good battery life with great cameras iphone xs max or note 9

Cause I don't see any downgrade from X beside Oled to LCD. Better chip, better single camera compare to poorer dual lenses, better battery life.

I am not considering any Android phone at all here, even if I have to, Pixel2XL will be my choice. Huawei's phone is definitely a no to me, P20Pro is a joke.

Got to agree with you, any android phone other than pixel/android one series is a joke, software updates is already always delayed and the UI oh my god.. I hate Oppo and Huawei UI, ugly to the max

Honestly speaking. IpX to Xs no significant upgrade.

IpX to XR is a definite downgrade.

Thats my view.

Have to wait for camera review of XR. Other than optical zoom, is there any other features that are limited? Think has some articles that say the portrait shot of XR only for people but not objects

My view...

iX to iXS Max is an upgrade to dual-SIM and size.

iXR more of an upgrade from i7/8 and their Plus.

I have a 8. The obvious upgrade path for me is the XS/XS max, not the XR. Of cos, you can argue XR have the same Soc, same faceID etc but there are still many other things like Oled, better res, 2 cameras, more memory etc that make the XS a better upgrade than the XR.

Of cos, that is my view. :s13:

Oled to lcd is already a straight downgrade
Resolution lower also 1126p to 800+
Thicker bezels cos lcd cannot bend like oled thus cannot get rid of the chin
Steel to aluminium frame
Dual cam become single cam
This is downgrade if not is what

i'm going to "upgrade" from a iPhone X to a iPhone XR, and I don't really care what others saying if its a downgrade. OLED or LCD don't make a difference for me, a bigger screen with better battery life and a better processor is all i need. Camera? I don't take much photos no big deal.

People here can come in here and diss the phone and say that its an overpriced phone with 720p display, so what? true apple fans won't care about your worthless opinions. already ordered the cover from Qoo10. Cant wait !

You’re not alone. I’m doing the same.

It really depends on what people prioritise. I’m changing purely for the new sensor at the back. Don’t care for the SOC upgrade. Don’t use portrait mode often either.

For people that watch movies on their phones which I don’t, the X/Xs having the OLED screen is too good to pass up.

Guys, just go for what you prefer. You’re not buying a phone to please anyone else but you.
