could be a dmg cable. probably that causes it to become 100mbps? else u can try to reset your router and see if it still the same.

Did you inform Singtel you move house and they come to do the necessary installation/activation and test the connection speed.

they just came and go after intstallation. i only tested the ethernet speed yest and it seems like it capped at 100mbps:s22:

Try switching to another lan port for testing first?

tested all lan port available...still same..

damn...this is very frustrating...not sure its the router issue..is there any way i can connect directly to ONT?

their backend might have configured a 100M instead of 1G. Give them a call.

You have to contact Singtel to check on your connection at their side.

Hi bro, it could be an issue with the settings. Below is a possible solution. Note that my instructions are based on Windows 7 and that it may vary a bit on Windows 10.

1. Go to Network and Sharing Center -> In the "View Your Active Networks" section click on your "Local Area Connection". In the dialog box that opens if the "Speed" indicated is 100 Mbps then go to step 2.

2. Go to Network and Sharing Center -> On the left side of the page select "Change Adapter Settings" -> Choose your Local Area Connection, right click and select "Properties" -> In the dialog box that opens select "Configure" -> In the next dialog box go to the "Advanced" tab -> There should be a list of properties where you should select "Link Speed & Duplex" and in the drop down box next to it check that 1.0 Gbps is selected. If 1.0 Gbps is not selected then select it then press ok and then restart your PC. After restarting try step 1 again and now Speed should show 1.0 Gbps after which you should test your speed to see if it worked.

Hope the above helps to solve your problem.

Actually this is the same old problem that some user may face. Just unplug the LAN Cable from your notebook, wait 6 seconds then plug in again. If same issue, try again and it will be back to normal. Try a few time. Common issue. NIC auto-negotiation issue.

Whenever it happen just unplug the LAN cable from your notebook and wait for about 6 to 10 seconds then plug the LAN cable back to see whether it is back to 1Gbps connection. Look like NIC auto negotiation issue whereby the NIC can not function properly. Try to change the NIC setting from auto negotiation to full 1Gbps.

yea i tried change that and it straight cant connect to internet...or connect and dc continuously..

only change to auto negotiate will start as 1gbps (after pc restart) and disconnect within few minutes and reconnect as 100bmps cap...

urgh this is so frustrating...didnt know there exist such issues

Hello crispypeddler and all bros,

I AM FACING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE HERE HAS STARTED A THREAD!!! Let me explain the problem in detail.

1) I have been plagued with slow internet speed for many months already (I cant even remember when it started). After doing a speed test, I realised that my upload/download is called at 100mbps, it is usually displaying 90+ for both. I have to turn off and off both my router and my ONT many times, before the speed becomes normal. However, after a few days, it randomly becomes capped again.

2) After calling Singtel and getting their technician to check, they are unable to resolve the issue, even after coming to my place. I am very sure the cables are not damaged, and I have even changed my third party router to make sure its not the router issue.

3) Another Singtel technician told me to change the router back to the Singtel standard issue router, and VOILA, the speed got back to 700+mbps. He then commented "maybe the router sent a config back to the ONT".

4) I changed back to my third party router, and the speed stays normal for a few days again. However, the slow issue returns.

As of now, my only solution is to unplug my router, plug back the singtel default router and turn it on, "wait for it to send a config back to the ont", and then plug back my router. It always works, but the issue keeps coming back.

I don't think Singtel even gives a damn because they say they are not involved when it comes to third party router. I'm suspecting Singtel is doing this on purpose to discourage us from using third party routers.

How can the issue be solved when plugging back the singtel issued router, then come again when we use a third party router? Furthermore, the issue doesn't happen immediately, it happens a few days after (seems random)

Any bros or pros here have any technical knowledge of this?

Sad to say, you are on the wrong ISP if you intend to use your OWN router unless you change to the 2 Gbps plan where you can use your OWN router on port 4.

Back to the issue, have you check that the issue is not due to any hardware related such as damage LAN cables ?

Best is to use a known working LAN Cable and check your "Ethernet Status" under Windows 10 or "Local Area Connection Status" in all other Windows version.
