Air China baggage strictness

Hi all,

I am flying by Air China soon and I would like to check if my carry on is just a backpack which might exceed 5kg, around 8kg, are they very strict and won't allow me to board with it?

I know the official rules but just want to know if there are any flexibility and these can only know through other 's experience.

air china is not a budget airline.

as long as your backpack is a normal regular size one, no one will check how heavy it is under normal circumstances, unless your backpack contains gold bar

Hey man, thanks for the information! Would they allow you to hand carry an additional plastic bag though?

The reason I asked is because Chinese Airlines are renowned in terms of strictness of baggage.

Actually, searching around on tripadvisor, it seems like they even bother to weigh the carryon bags ?? No other airlines does this...

I flew with them 3 weeks ago. They didn't weigh the handcarry in Changi and Beijing. I entered and exited Beijing twice.

Maybe I've never flown too much but I've yet to encounter that

I flew with them 3 weeks ago. They didn't weigh the handcarry in Changi and Beijing. I entered and exited Beijing twice.

so far taken both air china and china eastern, both never encountered any weighing of hand-carry even though i had a backpack (school backpack size) and a shopping carrier bag with me.

Spring Airlines seems very famous for weighing carry-on.
can check out TA reviews. it flies from SG to Shanghai
