Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and Road Charge (RC)

Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) is a permit issued by the Road Transport Department (under Section 66H of the Road Transport Act 1987) that allows the entry of foreign vehicles into Malaysia. Owners or representatives duly appointed by the owners of ALL foreign registered vehicles entering Peninsular Malaysia are required to register online for VEP through this portal. VEP registered vehicles will be issued non-transferrable RFID tags that uniquely identify each vehicle.

Road charge (RC) is a fee imposed on all foreign registered private vehicles (excluding motorcycles) when entering Malaysia. The fee of RM20.00 will be charged each time these vehicles enter the country.

so troublesome? must register, get the permit than can go in to Johor?

Anyone collected?

I received this email and collected mine at Plaza Angsana open carpark a few weeks ago. The officer will find a good location on your windscreen to stick the VEP sticker. Do make sure you prepared all the required copies of documents before driving in.

This VEP sticker can also be used for toll payment in Klang Valley using the RFID lane...which i find quite convenient because i travel to KL once a month. If you hardly travel to malaysia, this sticker isn't that useful.

hope the info above is useful to you.

Thanks man. So pasting the sticker is not compulsory? I travel in for R&R once a month but only in the JB area.

You do not need to do anything for now until you hear from us again. We will soon announce the date and location where you can collect your VEP RFID Tag via VEP website as well as other channels.

During tag collection, please print and bring along the Confirmation Slip together with other supporting documents. You may find out about the supporting documents from the FAQ section located at VEP website homepage.

If you have any questions about this matter, please contact +607 5950 669 or email to aduanvep@jpj.gov.my.

It's not compulsory. But for me since I already applied might as well go in and do it lor

I'm a tad confuse, so the rfid tag itself is the sticker? I don't really wanna paste anything on my windshield. I thought the RFID tag is compulsory?

if it's not compulsory means just pay extra rm 20 at the custom as per usual is it?

Yeh, it's a sticker. I also don't want anything on my windscreen to the point I remove the servicing sticker also. :(

It is compulsory but it has not become effective yet. For now, and for the last few years that they've been implementing the VEP, you can still drive in without registering or getting the tag. Time will tell if the day will ever come that they say register and print the docs first before coming over or have to U turn to SG.

The VEP and the RC(Road Charge) are two different things. Even if/when they do enforce the VEP, drivers will still need to pay the RM20 road charge plus the standard toll to come in.

Personally, I tried once a few years back and their website was crap and didn't allow me to register and since then I've just been waiting for the news to come that it's going to become effective from a certain date, then I'll do. :p
