Hey guys,
Was trying to charge my air-cond, MHI system 3 and got confused.
Pressure was ~100 psi when I switched ON 1 unit, but went up to ~130/140 psi when all 3 units were switched ON.
So, which one is correct?
Just switch ON one unit or all 3 units?
Need expert's advice.

Bro, seriously not recommended to fill gas on own.
1) 410 gas so expensive one tank if dont have many outdoor units to fill, may not be worth.
2) Improper refill gas or tank management can cause air into the system. air, with moisture, is bad for gas system, can cause corrosion and gas leak. air and freon mixture will cause the pressure reading to inaccurate as diff gas compress at diff rates. Hence again not cold.
3) Years of experience tells me that its a experience-oriented task and need experienced tech. i used to be like that and engage cheap aircon companies. The aircon tech overfill gas causing condenser not cold. I wanted to save, end up spending double jobs to request experience tech to solve issue.

Then i found SgOzoneAircon.com 's Keith and i have been using him for years already.

Nowadays, the aircon technician's experiences really counts. There are too many inexperienced tech in market. Keith chatted with me and said nowadays aircon tech so many, how many really know what they are doing? He said he encountered so many aircon not cold caused by gas overfill due to inexperienced tech.

They also had a cheaper chemical wash which can solve aircon not cold issue. Clean is 70-80% compared to chemical overhaul but price is less than half of overhaul. Price is reasonable and i can do chemical wash every year to prevent aircon not cold due to dirt choke on coil. Coil is really easy to choke on new gen aircons.

Share my experiences and experience really makes the difference. :s12:

What's the consensus on which are the best few aircon repair companies. I'm moving house and it's been a hassle to arrange every 3 months for service, so I'd prefer annual contract and just forget about it.

Price most important factor, and not scam company who tries to sell add-ons without need.

Thanks for the reply.
I was marine engineer many years ago and handling this small air-con isn't an issue.
I used to handle >10k horse power ship engines together with other machineries, including refrigeration systems. But, I have forgotten now. Hahaha.
Actually, you will be surprised to know that your knowledge could be much better than those technicians out there.
When my air-con wasn’t cold enough [4~5 years ago], I engaged air con guy[who was recommended here] and he told me to change new air con. My air con was only ~4 years old that time.
These guys don’t even know what super heat is nor sub cooling.
Since then, I have been servicing my system 3 air con own my own, chemical cleaning, gas charging etc.
I bought a 25lbs 410A gas bottle @$95 from Lazada and 5 litre Alkaline cleaner @$15 from Daikin.

know of people who can fix air con auto on and off? it happens to only one unit out of the whole system. how would the technician assess and fix it? could be due to faulty components.

If only one unit is facing auto on off issue, chances are the receiver or the pcb is faulty with the receiver being the most common fault. Would be good to have the fault diagnosed and replacement cost quoted for your consideration. Price varies between different brands/models. In most cases the faulty part is replaced.

actually, how would they diagnose it if the fault do not occur when technician is around? any idea how much it would cost to replace receiver or PCB? the replacement will have to be compatible with the compressor brand? what happens if the compressor brand is obsolete?

Tell tale signs such as moisture on the receiver, corroded components etc will be signs to look out for. Most contractors should have the experience to assess the condition of the unit onsite to determine the fault.
Price is usually dependent on brand/model hence the difference can be vast between brands. The replacement has to be compatible with your wall mount model and not the compressor brand. Sensor is located at the wall mount. Brand agent might still carry some stocks for different parts even if the model is obsolete. Otherwise if original parts are no longer available then you will need to source for 2nd hand parts.

air con on off by itself

Using a mitsubishi ge va 10 unit.
The unit suddenly turns on and off by itself.

Tried taking out the batteries from the remote controller but doesnt help. Any idea how to rectify it?

Given that the settings on the remote are correct (no timer mode activated and cool mode is used) then based on description, chances are the receiver is faulty. In most cases the receiver replaced. Would be good to have the fault diagnosed and replacement cost quoted for your consideration.
