Good Afternoon guys,

I will be heading to japan from the 9th april to the 19th april.
I am also planning to head down to tateama alpine route. But as much as i checked, i am still not sure how do i start e.g. after i buy the tickets and all is there a certain route i need to take to reach the place?

Can anyone advise me what to do/go from the start to reach the destination? i am browsing the website but still really confused.

Is the 9800 Yen the final/full price for the event?

Sorry and thanks guys!

There is two entrance up Tateyama. Either you are coming in from Tateyama Station or Shinano Omachi Station. Depending on your schedule, you can either choose entering from the same entrance or enter from one and exit on the other side.

https://www.alpen-route.com/en/transport_new/fares.html

The time need to transverse or round trip is suggested in the website.

Not sure if you are doing a free&easy or tour. But if you are doing free&easy, do note that the tickets are NOT day pass and all transportation have a timing

If you are coming from Tokyo, I guess it make sense to come from Shinano-Omachi but some parts of the route is closed for certain times. See

https://www.alpen-route.com/en/about/introduction.html

If you are visiting when partial route is opened, you can only enter from Toyama end.

The main interest to visit are Kurobe Dam, Tateyama Ropeway (Nice overview of Kurobe Dam), Murudo (Highest point of the trip), Bijodaira – Midagahara (I think this is where you can see the Walls of Snow. Not sure coz I visited Tateyama in Aug.)

You can also stay Murudo (got hotels and hostel) if you feel that the trip is too much to cover in 1 day.

The route is quite fixed. You need to know where is your starting destination. The fare is not round-trip so if you start Shinano-Omachi, then you end at Toyama or if you start at Toyama, you end at Shinano-Omachi.

So if you use this pass, you are effectively making a round trip from Tokyo/Nagano to Toyama, one of the trips will cover Alpine Route, the other one most likely will be a Shinkansen trip back, instead of Shinkansen in both directions. Maybe this helps you understand the plan better.

The trip can be done completely by F&E. The transportation between two places are manned by timetable, so you need to be aware. There are two queues, one for tour group, another one for individuals. Queue the individuals one if you do F&E. I think the way how they manage the crowd is do staggering between group and individual people - one bus/cable car for group and another one for individuals.

Remember to STUDY the timetable for the timings. I use the word study is because it tells you a lot of information, especially the last timing of each transport in the intermediate points if you want to catch the last transport to reach the ending point on either side.

It is relatively easy to travel as the route is fixed. Difficult to get lost.

The starting point is either Nagano Station (bus) or Toyama Station (train).
