Reliabilty would depend on individuals?
Have been with Transtar for more than 10 years over 40-50 times and there only 1 breakdown?

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to say either one is better over the other. I've taken both Transtar and 707 and so far both haven't let me down. One thing I like about Transtar is that they offer trips to KL area, while 707 only goes straight to Genting and also solely departs from there, but from past experience both are reliable in the service that they provide. On my uphill trips, I like to stop in KL first and do some shopping and makan before heading uphill, so I need to take Transtar which is the only reliable service to KL. I will only take 707/Transtar/5-Star from uphill back to SG because these are the coaches that are safe, relatively fast and trustworthy.

Hope this helps anyone searching for good coaches to take to/fro KL/Genting.

KL Trip

Hihi,
I'll be going to KL with a friend some time this month for a short break. Wondering which coach to take? Never been to KL actually. Hoping to depart around 1pm+ or 2pm+ on a Friday afternoon, what time will reach KL? (Hoping to drop somewhere near Berjaya Time Square or Bukit Bintang area)

Searched a few and saw kkkl, transtar, starmart, star qistina. Any tried these before? If not, any other options? Aeroline a bit expensive for us ($100/person).. We're ok with $50/person haha.

Thanks in advance!!

I haven't taken a coach to KL per se but has taken the coach to Genting many times.

Of your list, I will say Transtar is a safe choice. I had taken Transtar to Genting many times and so far no big issues.

Not sure if Star Qistina and Qistina Express is the same company. If yes, you definitely want to avoid. Read this thread for more >> https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/malaysia-269/never-take-qistna-express-5883696.html

KKKL and Starmart seem to have mixed reviews. Some say good. Some say bad.

tried transtar once (Genting to SG)
1st, you take a 44 seater bus for 1 hr (to Genting Sempah R&R), al;ong the Karak highway.

Then you transfer to the proper 3-abreast bus (after waiting another 20mins)
next, they drive you to an industrial estate near batu caves to buy overpriced local products. stop for 45mins

next, you stop at Yong Peng for about 30-45mins, before the bus heads to Tuas.

while starmart does the job within 6-7 hours. this transtar takes 10 hours.

starmart don’t stop at YP for breaks. if you don’t need toilet break or a breather than take starmart

Was this recently?

I haven't taken Transtar for some time from Genting back to Spore but the last time I took, it was not like this.

1st, you take a 44 seater bus for 1 hr (to Genting Sempah R&R), al;ong the Karak highway. - This is due to malaysia law

Then you transfer to the proper 3-abreast bus (after waiting another 20mins)
next, they drive you to an industrial estate near batu caves to buy overpriced local products. stop for 45mins - Rather enjoy buying lcoal products and its also a toilet break + a stopover to rest

next, you stop at Yong Peng for about 30-45mins, before the bus heads to Tuas. - This applies to premium coach type only and also unless youa re ok no to have dinner all the way till 8+?

while starmart does the job within 6-7 hours. this transtar takes 10 hours.
- For Solitare coach type, its about 7+ hours subjected to traffic conditions

yes. need to transfer at genting sempah due to double decker bus not allow at genting. if you take single deck transtar then dun need to transfer.

i won’t take starmart ever, tried once and it was agony. they are cheap but it comes with a price. i rather spend a bit more and travel in comfort

I see, thank you for your input! I also found Grassland (SVIP) and Eltabina (VIP 27) departing at the same timing as Transtar (SVIP) and the drop-off are all in the area of my airbnb, and the prices are similar.

Wondering if Transtar is still better?

What's the main diff between Solitare and Solitare Suite? I went to transtar website and it seems the suite seats are better (massage)?
