Volcanic alert level raised for popular Mount Hakone resort area in Kanagawa
KYODO

Authorities raised the volcanic alert level for Mount Hakone on Sunday — warning of a possible eruption — after increasing seismic activity was detected near the popular hot-spring resort area in Kanagawa Prefecture.

For the first time since 2015, the Meteorological Agency raised its alert level at the site to a 2 on the 5-point scale, meaning people have been barred from approaching the crater.

The agency said it decided to raise the level from 1 after the number of volcanic earthquakes increased to 45 on Saturday, compared with zero the previous day.

On Sunday, the number of quakes detected had hit 21 as of 9 a.m. The agency warned of a possible eruption and volcanic cinders as fumarolic activity has been intensifying in areas around Owakudani, a volcanic valley in the Hakone area about 80 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.

After the alert level was raised, the town of Hakone decided to restrict entry around the crater and close a road leading to the area.

The operator of the Hakone Ropeway also suspended its services running through Owakudani on Sunday.

In 2015, small eruptions occurred at the 1,438-meter mountain and the agency’s alert level was raised to 3, warning people not to approach a larger swath of area surrounding the volcano.

Prior to those small eruptions, geological evidence has suggested that the mountain last erupted between the late 12th and 13th centuries.

Wah i will be there on thurs and am raking bus from kawaguchiko to togendai then upwards to owakudani. The counter gal told me that owakudani to sogendai ropeway is down and shuttle bus will be provided. Wonder if togendai to owakudani ropeway will still be operational or not.

Not too sure. But I got some limited edition kits as gifts from Divercity. Usually seasonal ones.

Generally yes. Just get from yodobashi or Bic camera dept store.. They are usually cheaper than specialised hobby shops.

Price in yodobashi and bic camera is abt half of the normal recommended retail price in sg dept stores.
Occasionally shengtai toy have clearance sale that can be cheaper than Japan, but those are mostly old, unpopular kits

The usual GST rules apply for anything u buy. But buying gundam very hard to hit limit coz the boxes very bulky and u are restricted by how much u can carry.
Wing 0 got quite a few versions.. PG, MG, hi-res etc. Will be worth it to get the hi-res or PG one as it is very expensive here.

I see. That’s what I feel it will be much cheaper over therE. But then it will be bulky for the big box too.
Any ideas u know it will be cheaper by how much?

Cheaper by half of our sg dept store price.
e.g.
RRP in japan = 1000yen
SG dept start price = $21.95
SG hobby shop price = $17.5
Yodobashi camera = 864yen

Hi pros, im back from my Tokyo trip and it was a good one. Im now starting to plan for Osaka 2020 solo trip, maybe around Feb -Apr.

Can advise how days would be ideal? Im looking to base myself in osaka with day trips to kyoto (2-3D), nara (1D), Kobe (1D), Hiroshima (2-3D). Would like to get a rough gauge of the duration though. Looking at 7-9D trip, including arrival and departure days in the duration. I will do research from there out.

Thanks.

Ideal number of days will be as many as u can afford :D

The number of days u stated looks good. Just need probably 2 full days for osaka.. A day for USJ, and another for the other attractions in osaka. Hiroshima maybe 3nights, so u have 2 full days there, and last day head to himeji on the way back to osaka

Can be quite abit especially if going for high end models.

The PG Exia Lighting i hooted

28.8k at BIC
31.1 at yodobashi(Before tax rebate of 8%)
I got it at 20710 after just showing my visa card for additional 5% discount.

I almost wanted to hoot when i was in Tokyo but decide to hold until i go Joshin to check on their prices.

Lol, ok i will base on same 9D trip and see if there are any good flight deals 1st. Then i start work on my itinerary.

Just a quick check, did anyone went to USJ alone? Would it seem awkward?
