Servicing typically subpar. Installation hit or miss depending on the team you get. But their prices (for aircon installation) are competitive compared to other players. I enquired all round, only 1 installer had prices cheaper than GC while having same warranty terms as GC.

For servicing, I'd rather stick to reputable small timers than the big boys.

Can give some recommendations on reliable small timers?

hi guys. anyone got experience with Close Comfort Personal Aircon PC9+ ~?

i am currently sleeping in the utility room that was build during HDB's Main Upgrading Programme. so fitting in an air-con is incredibly difficult. plus air-con casement is out of the question.

Portable aircon are inefficient, noisier and take up more space. Are you absolutely sure a conventional wall mount split system cannot be done?

thanks for the reply. i am looking around and found this product. wondering whether it is a gimmick.

Typically around 20-30m piping length I think, dependent on the model.

My thoughts on that product? At the end of the day, there's no defying the laws of physics for an aircon to move an amount of heat in exchange for cool air. As per the video I shared earlier,

- Exhaust heat is pumped back into the room/area you want to cool
- The intake is drawing in the cool air it just produced
- Net cooling lower = longer periods of higher power consumption

Have you considered why they advertised it as a "personal aircon" and claim it is not a "portable aircon"? Because it's cooling effects are indeed less than that of the already mediocre portable aircon.

Look at their own answer on Lazada;

Q: If put it in a small room without windows open, the hot air will make the room become warm? Or it is more suitable to put a portable aircon?
A: Hi, yes you are right. If windows are closed, the warm air, though not hot, will eventually warm up a small room. For big rooms like living room it is still ok. Depending on how you plan to use it, if for individual use,

Close Comfort can provide instant direct cooling to you the moment you turn it on. The moment you do not need it, you can turn it off, just like how you would use a fan. For portable aircon, depending on the size of the unit you purchase, can cool a bigger area after a while. You do have to take note of the exhaust air hose installation, the water drainage, the power consumption and noise level.

Hey guys I've enquired with Gain City regarding installation of aircon.
It seems that they only do installation of weekdays as they are afraid of other people complaining due to the noise, especially during weekends when people are usually at home.
Its abit tough for me to have the installation done on a weekdays as I won't be home, hence weekend would be a better option for me.
Is there any other retailer which are willing to do installation on a Saturday?

Other big retailers are more likely to go by-right and do on weekdays to avoid HDB complaints. Even if you manage to find one that does installation on Saturday, I doubt they match GC's warranty length (3yrs workmanship). Most of the market are offering only 1yr on workmanship.

All I have to say is be careful of online reviews. Many SEO companies out there offer services to help boost reviews, add "volume" to reviews and provide varying tones of review commentary. Even the installer I went with was guilty of doing this.

Doesn't matter if it's FB review, Google review, Yelp or whatever. Just look at this for example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/WUXIAN-Phone-Charger-Cable-Compatible-White/dp/B07TTSQJ8F/

My Daikin aircon has been leaking gas, topped up a month plus ago and now seems to be empty again.

Any remediation action I can take beyond replacing the whole thing?

And any brands to recommend?

Get a different servicer to check properly. Gas leak either the contractor play punk or your pipes genuinely leaking.

Got two contractors. Both say won’t know where leak... really the case that they won’t know?

My aircon has been installed for 9 years so there should be a fair amount of wear and tear

Gas pipe leak is not easy to trace, especially if it is concealed in false ceiling. Best option might be to just change your whole aircon system including the piping if it is old.

Then likely should be pipes bah. If your piping in false ceiling, indeed the best option is to replace everything (aircon + piping) as mentioned by previous reply.
