You can use it together with the Love Dining benefit, which means you can pretty much eat for free if you go with one other person.

The restaurant by the pool and their main buffet restaurant (can’t remember their names offhand) are not bad. Yan Ting the Cantonese restaurant has terrible service. I didn’t try the Astor bar but it houses Picasso art works if you are into that.

Too bad vouchers can’t be used at Shinji though.

Second that. I think as long as you are willing to part with $1,712, they will give you the card.

Dun think is so simple. There seem to be some criteria that they use to determine who to invite regardless of income.

I suspect things like:
-Number of years as Amex cardholder.
-Type of cards held with them. (Min must have Amex Platinum Credit)
-Account is in good standing.

And maybe other criteria...

The platinum charge 1712 is now a mass market card. Following the business model as the States.
It depends on how you define mass market. No of people whose income qualify? Percentage of people whose income qualify? What's the threshold point?

I dun think the annual fee is mass market. Is $1712 in Singapore vs US$550 ($760ish) in US.

US issued Amex Platinum Charge cards got even more benefits than SG issued ones.

Yes, Amex exercised their discretion in inviting people earning less than 200K per annum to apply for this card may have affected it's exclusiveness. But I think it is a business decision to keep the program sustainable in Singapore.

The people they invite should have fulfilled certain set of criteria to be a valued customer to them.
