The best credit card is the one that doesn't require me to call them so no service needed.

I had to call them because my point transfer didn't went through at all and they didn't even settle the issue by themselves after 1 whole month. I had to call them to settle. They got the points back but didn't get back to me at all.

I wanted to use the free stay which I am supposed to contact the hotel through email but some don't reply or some don't even know what I am talking about.

It's easy to get them on the phone but that's about it, I don't find Amex superior to other banks. That is my opinion from my own interaction with them.

even amex plat or amex manager is nothing to shout about, local bank at times service is way better that can fix issue instantly
manager also bring u merry go round at amex
other than the high annual fee to this premium card at low entry level, its really nothing about amex brand seen just by interacting with their escalation

PP access update. no more unlimited for complimentary card holder +guest. this doesnt affect US issued cards. so far it seems like only SG cards affected. discrimination towards SG holders?

We are writing to inform you of an update to the Priority Pass™ access for Supplementary Card Members of The Platinum Card®.

What’s changing

Starting from 13 February 2025, Priority Pass access for each Platinum Card Account will include unlimited access for the Basic Card Member with one guest per visit, and up to 4 complimentary visits for one registered Supplementary Card Member with one guest per visit each calendar year.

The American Express Global Lounge Collection® will continue to offer you and your Supplementary Card Member(s) unlimited complimentary lounge access with the rest of our lounge partners: The Centurion® Lounge, Delta Sky Club, Escape Lounges, Lufthansa Lounges and Plaza Premium Lounge.

What should you do?

There is no action required from you. Your Priority Pass membership will not change and will allow you to enjoy:

•
Unlimited complimentary access to Priority Pass lounges for you.

This card every month reduce benefits. My time with this card is up, time to say bye bye again.
yeah. what pisses me off is that it seems only singapore and a few EU countries are affected. US cards remain unchanged. this is discrimination. we are paying higher AF but welfare keep getting cut. I'm pestering the CS. i know they can't do much, but i believe if more of us send them complaints, they may think twice for the next reduction

my email to them

Dear ,

Thank you for your response. However, I must express my disappointment with the explanation provided.

While I appreciate the details you have shared regarding the geographical differences in benefits, I still feel that the core issue has not been adequately addressed. As a Platinum Card holder in Singapore, I continue to be perplexed as to why the welfare of Singapore cardholders keeps getting reduced, especially considering the high annual fee we are required to pay compared to other regions (S$1,744 is one of the highest AF globally).

It is extremely frustrating to see American Express continually cut benefits for Singapore cardholders without providing any justifiable reasons, and often with very little notice. The recent limitations on supplementary cardholders' lounge access are a clear example of this and seem disproportionate given the significant fee we are paying.

What is even more concerning is that, based on the changes you’ve outlined, the same reductions are not being applied uniformly across all regions. For example, cardholders in the United States, despite paying a lower annual fee, seem to be unaffected by this round of benefit reductions, specifically with regard to Priority Pass access. This raises serious concerns about a lack of fairness and consistency in how benefits are being applied globally.

Furthermore, the disparity in treatment between Singapore cardholders and those in other regions is increasingly difficult to ignore and, frankly, feels discriminatory. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that Singapore cardholders are being unfairly targeted with higher fees and diminished benefits, while other regions, particularly the USA, continue to receive the full value of their membership at a lower cost.

As a loyal customer who has chosen American Express precisely for its reputation of delivering value, I feel let down by these decisions. I strongly urge you to reconsider the current situation, as the benefits provided to us here in Singapore no longer appear to align with the premium service we are paying for.

I look forward to a more detailed and satisfactory response.

Best regards,

Pestering CS no use

they are just postman.

Nevertheless, of course if enough people go feedback, that might change. But what’s the likelihood of people go provide feedback?

It might just end up that they go cancel the card which also send a signal.

Agreed totally on this. No point pestering the CS.
If card does not serve your needs, then just cancel and move on. Banks need to stay profitable and hence, they will adjust the perks based on what they perceive the maximum revenue that will bring to their books.

I am using Krisflyer and SQ as example. You redeem award flights not use the points to offset fare of flights. Miles are not meant to be used to offset fare, that's why you get such low value. Almost nobody use miles to offset fare like you ask about.
need some confirmation and wish the frequent users here can advise.

i have 132000+ amex points now. to redeem SQ the award flights as you said, it'll be 132000/450*250 *krisflyers miles). which means i'll have 73000 krisflyers miles to use to "redeem" flight, and thats the best use, right?

For AMEX Platinum charge, the rate is 400:250. So 132000/400*250=82,500 miles.
