btw, did you all know that Tab S5E is using the slower eMMC storage?

Netflix supports only HD (720p) instead of Full HD 1080p

Benchmark performances is worse than the older S4

I had the S5e for a couple of days and found it to be slower than my older S4 and quickly sold it off :s22:

I do miss it's light chassis compared to S4
Didnt know abt netflix playing in only 720p. That's a deal breaker.

Wah, on 10.5" screen, can tell difference meh? Maybe I'm old already, but I had watched some NF movies on my S5e and I'm quite happy with PQ.

Quite understandable as the processors too are a huge difference - 835 versus 670.

Still not bothered by this as I fully expected the performance difference between the 2.

Yeah, when I bought mine, I wasn't bothered as I knew it wasn't meant to replace the Tab S4 (Tab S6 did that), the Tab S5e is basically a mid tier tab for light entertainment, like listening to music, watching ripped movies, Spotify, NetFlix and such. Quite happy with mine actually.....

How about when using S5E Dex to TV, can netflix be 1080p? or will it be limited to 720p

Wait, deal breaker for Netflix or S5e? If S5e, you may be barking at the wrong tree as there are a few factors to consider. Account type, App or browser usage. It's not the S5es fault if Netflix App only streams 720p. If 1080p viewing is really a must for you, then download Microsoft Edge (don't use Netflix app), and assuming you have the Standard HD account - then you should be a happy camper then! I also saw a few hacks for Chrome so that Netflix runs on 1080p, you might also want to give that a try.

Agreed. Really boils down to product research and how one will use it. Really quite satisfied with mine.

Yep. Previously was on netflix standard plan with only HD, changed to ULTRA plan with 4k support and i couldn't go back to HD.

Deal breaker for netflix on the tab s5e not support 1080p. I'm on the ULTRA plan for Netflix. BTW does the tab s5e at least support HDR in Netflix? Cant seem to find any official specs on it.

Ah, then it is still Netflix's 'fault' since it's a limitation of the app itself. So even if you install Netflix on any other Android tablet - the scenario is the same.

For my case, it will get stuck or hang immediately. But no re-start.

Now waiting for the Tab A (free for 2 years subscription of digital newspaper) in order to read the digital news....

Don't use the app... it's super clunky... I just use the web version... it's more stable.. ST stingy, never employ a better programmer to write their app...

Yes, fully aware it is using eMMC storage instead of the faster UFS.

But to be honest, cannot complain much on a mid range tablet.

No, he didn't. I guess you misunderstood him. Netflix simply doesn't support 1080p or HDR on Tab S5e. Not sure when they will do so.

No, I didn't misunderstood him.

That's what I mentioned. The Netflix app doesn't support 1080p. But if you use a browser instead (specific browsers mentioned), and visit Netflix using the browser, you'll be able to view 1080p. Don't use the app, use a browser if you want 1080p. In this case, it's the limitation of the Netflix app itself and not the hardware of the S5e

Then the link I gave - the guy "discovered" that there is no HDR support in Netflix (and Amazon Prime) - even if the panel supports HDR. That's what I mean when I said 'this guy figured it out'.

Which browser on S5e can play Netflix videos? Those that I tried either redirect to the app or - if set to Desktop - simply say "streaming error".

Ah. I thought you meant he figured out how to make it work, because that's what "figure out" means (not merely discovering a problem).

anyone bought $480 deal from qoo10? is it safe?

edit: I've never used qoo10 before so I'm not sure if I should take this chance to try.

Good news. The latest Netflix app now supports 1080p on Tab S5e. Still no HDR support though.
