Actually to be more accurate, freehold should excludes paper gain. Freehold means you have already collected back 100% of your capital invested thru means of dividend or partial sales so that even if the company suddenly becomes worthless one day, you don't lose any capital (your only loss is opportunity costs). :)

If you include paper gain then it erodes or degrades the meaning of freehold since it can become non-freehold anytime should market price comes down significantly. Just my 2c.
Means paper gain and dpu collected so far add up to 100% of purchase value :)

That's correct. Paper gain is still unrealized, cash dividend is already received but unless you reinvested in. To be more accurate, should refer to scrip shares received equivalent value to your invested sum. That's freehold shares :)

I once accumulated >1.5k BP.ADR scrip @6+% yield rate but still hardly achieved the freehold state.

Are all the big boys in this counter and all the Reits??, nvr expect this one to fly up this high. Regret buying only a few lots..

Ya, I think about 2 year ago maybe? That time the share price about 1.1x only.
