HK government sleeping on job and badly underestimated the localists groups. They were actively recruiting radicals and spreading pro independence propaganda in schools since 2014 and nothing done. Lololol. It is no coincidence that the initial violence were started by localists groups. Lololol
The more I think about it the more worries I get. I am starting to think this might be a plot by the PRC govt to undermine the 1C2S philosophy and the pro-dems, especially the seperatist are playing right into their hands.
China has never been agreeable to the 1C2S and has always sought for a direct handover of both Macau and HK to China post-1997. They were essentially pressured by the banking industry and the British, thru the strong economic constitution of then HK to 'gurantee' a democratic rule post-handover if not the banking industry would not provide loans to companies and infrastructure projects to Hong Kong with tenure past 1997. As such, to ensure the continued financial success of HK, the PRC agreed on the implentation of the 1C2S. The Brits also have a lot to gain in terms of saving face with the implementation of the 1C2S, seeing as they had helped secured HK's democracy for another 50yrs. However, fast forward 22yrs and the economic significant of HK has decreased significantly and the PRC might see this as a perfect opportunity to let HK sink into chaos and eventually justify the failure of the 1C2S.
There is no other explanation for the lack of actions from CL's govt and China being China would certainly have known the existence of Independence members post-2014 and would certainly not had turned a blind eye to them without a hidden agenda.
It is just a theory but it seems this is the only logical explanation to the lack of actions from both CL's govt and the PRC govt.
