US condemns "unjustified use of force" and says it is monitoring events in Hong Kong

According to Reuters, a senior US official has condemned the “unjustified use of force” in Hong Kong and encouraged China to “protect Hong Kong’s freedom”.

“We condemn the unjustified use of force and urge all sides to refrain from violence and engage in constructive dialogue,” the official said.

“The United States expects Beijing to honour its commitments under the Sino-British joint Declaration and to protect Hong Kong’s freedom, legal system and democratic way of life.”

HK government sleeping on job and badly underestimated the localists groups. They were actively recruiting radicals and spreading pro independence propaganda in schools since 2014 and nothing done. Lololol. It is no coincidence that the initial violence were started by localists groups. Lololol

The more I think about it the more worries I get. I am starting to think this might be a plot by the PRC govt to undermine the 1C2S philosophy and the pro-dems, especially the seperatist are playing right into their hands.

China has never been agreeable to the 1C2S and has always sought for a direct handover of both Macau and HK to China post-1997. They were essentially pressured by the banking industry and the British, thru the strong economic constitution of then HK to 'gurantee' a democratic rule post-handover if not the banking industry would not provide loans to companies and infrastructure projects to Hong Kong with tenure past 1997. As such, to ensure the continued financial success of HK, the PRC agreed on the implentation of the 1C2S. The Brits also have a lot to gain in terms of saving face with the implementation of the 1C2S, seeing as they had helped secured HK's democracy for another 50yrs. However, fast forward 22yrs and the economic significant of HK has decreased significantly and the PRC might see this as a perfect opportunity to let HK sink into chaos and eventually justify the failure of the 1C2S.

There is no other explanation for the lack of actions from CL's govt and China being China would certainly have known the existence of Independence members post-2014 and would certainly not had turned a blind eye to them without a hidden agenda.

It is just a theory but it seems this is the only logical explanation to the lack of actions from both CL's govt and the PRC govt.

Like that very tough. Don’t tell me this drama will play till 2047. Like that damn sian. Live show become still show.

One thing for sure, if HK ppl don’t get their acts together to figure out how to play as a team China. They will just become reserved players or worse, the one that serve the drinks and sweep the floor.

Their economy won’t last till 2047. By the time China will bail them out already.

Unjustified use of force?

*looking at the violence in USA*

So justified.

PRC is respecting the 1C2S by not using military to suppress. HK and PRC have the same problem. 'Their leniency has already been deemed as extreme violence etc by their own HK media, western media etc. If they really use extreme violence, there will be far more condemnation. This will pave the way for more voice of independence

Precisely, I think the PRC is secretly hoping that HK would implode by itself...giving the. The reason to scrap 1C2S when HK falls into anarchy
