Nah I don’t think Panasonic should be in there. GC sales also told me that ME lots of problem and complains, becos a lot of people buy. Up to you how interpret it.

Glad to know the brands to avoid. But it is surprising to see Samsung and Panasonic as those few brands with more problems.

You don't believe from sales people. They are more interested in selling. They will probably introduce the brands with more commission.

Must ask technicians on the ground.

Sales people can be quite biased.

10 years ago, GC was promoting Mitsubishi Heavy.

Fully agreed! Those sales ppl not the ones doing aircon, they are only there to sell to get commission.

I trusted one of these hard selling by these sales people and regretted it. In 2017 went to buy Mitsubishi starmex GE series model but the guy kept pushing the FJ series which was one of the early 5 tick aircon saying latest model, energy savings blah blah. I thought fine, mitsubishi after all shouldn't be so bad. End up that thing broke down almost every 3-4 weeks for 6 months with various issues. Mitsubishi agent blamed the aircon company, company blame Mitsubishi with me stuck in the middle. After much back and forth and only after threatening them with legal action they took it back and replaced it with a Dakin non inverter as I requested. There was almost a 1k price difference between the 2 systems which I'm yet to get back, but I let it be since the aircon has been working fine.

Only after talking to some aircon techs later on, did I realise that the FJ series was a failed model with lots of teething issues. Probably why the seller wanted to get rid of their stock too.

Bottom line, do your own research and stick to your gut instinct. Don't let any salespeople sway your decision.

Didn't last one year, replaced after 6 months . Few weeks upon installing already broke down, then kept breaking down repeatedly until I got fed up. Definitely QC or design issue with the outdoor unit as my current daikin using the same pipes for 2 years without issue, so installation was not to blame.

Starmex FJ series, they don't sell it anymore. But the current FN series is a descendant of that model which why I personally avoid it like a plague.

I see. I read about the FJ series.

I guess if anyone wants to stick with ME, then I suggest to buy the EW for a peace of mind.

I really like the ease of maintenance with ME. You can access the blower very conveniently.

Yes, I read about the FJ series problems. That’s why Mitsubishi took this model off within 1 year of sale and replaced with the improved FN series. Some of my relatives and friends using FN series, no problem at all.

Learn from my mistake and do not buy any newly released model. Make sure its been on the market for year at least if possible so that you can get reviews of real world daily use. I'm quite baffled ME did not cease sales immediately and recall the FJ series despite known issues and even continued allowing retailers to sell them.

Before I bought my current aircon in July this year to replace my old mitsubishi starmex non inverter sys 3. I really read up all the discussions over here from page 1 till the end. From the info here. I got to know Mitsubishi starmex FJ was really a problematic model that was swiftly replaced by the current FN model. Some aircon shops are still selling the FJ model.

Then I also get to know the current 5 ticks FN model are more energy efficient and ended up it might take a longer time to cool the room. Ended up I choose the GE model although it is a 2 ticks model. For those who want to get mitsubishi starmex. Best to get the GE series.

The technician told me Midea is very fast to cool the room but spoilt too easily.

I guess the speed of cooling profile has a negative effect on the lifetime of the aircon.

ME is probably taking the safe approach to cool down the room slowly.

Most probably Midea parts are lower quality and cant last long, there is a reason why it is cheaper.

Condensation or water pipe choked?

If condensation, try putting higher fan speed.

Did you opt for the thicker insulation material?

For those who are installing aircon, I suggest upgrading your installation materials.
