Need some convincing here -

Despite the negative reviews on price, battery life, lack of wide angle, boring design, lack of original quality photo storage - why did you guys press on with Pixel 4?

Please help me out here. :s13: I honestly am struggling to make a choice but I love my current Pixel 2 - especially software. Is this why you guys are hanging on to the Pixel series?

camera quality for photos? :s13: While there isn't wide angle, the telephoto is really useful. It's one of the better telephoto camera quality around, even at 8x zoom, it takes usable shots. The reach is not as far as other phones with a periscope type telephoto camera like Reno 10x, P30 Pro, but quality is up there. Also the dual exposure control is kinda nice actually.

I didn't talk about that much in my initial review, but it makes shots like this super easy to take.

This is shot on Pixel 4 at 8X zoom, and just with a few minor edits like making it grayscale, tweaking the highlights and shadows a bit.

Normally for moon shots, have to dial the exposure down a lot to see the details on the moon. but that means the surrounding will just be black. But being able to control the shadows too allows me to capture some of the surrounding clouds, and even a bit of the silhouette of the trees too. Not the most high res shot, but for sharing on social media, it looks decent enough, and it's something other phones can't do as easily.

:s13:

but just be aware of its shortcomings lor. I don't think it's a bad phone. Just that when compared to other phones, it's not the most value for money.

For me not so much on camera.

I like the clean OS and timely update.

Next, I guess is from a loyalty POV.

I was also from Pixel 2.

sometimes it's better for it to be an emotional purchase and enjoy it than a logical one.

Thanks for the feedback!

Indeed I am actually leaning to an emotional decision despite all the negative reviews. I love the simplicity of my XL2, the camera and the weightlessness of the software. Unfortunately I dropped my phone 2 months back and the crack is getting a little unbearable. Doesn't help I can't find any where that can repair the screen at a reasonable price. I honestly don't care much about the current and latest models, I do think the marginal improvement of phone models across brands are very small nowadays.

Not worth to repair the screen.

From P2 to P4, it is a major upgrade.

The motion sensor is unique to P4 only and I think it is an under-appreciated feature.

Turned off my always on screen after using it for 3 months. Such a drastic difference in power consumption!

I personally never understood the use cases for Always On Display. If I'm near enough that I can see the screen, I can just double tap the screen to wake it? Sure, it still required one, two taps on the screen but it's pretty much effortless.

I still secretly prefer LED notification to Always On Display......

I have it turned on. For me, if I see there is no notification, I will not wake the phone. That's the use case for me but of course, different people have their own habits.

I noticed that when I am using a phone for calling, the data change from LTE to H. Anyone of you observe this as well? Is this normal? It happened to my old Pixel 3A as well. Thanks.

Yeah, Pixel 4XL here. So it is expected because I don't have a VOLTE? I am using M1 btw. Thanks.

VOLTE is telco dependent... the phone has the capability but local telco providers might not implement it properly. My pixel 4 XL using singtel sim has VOLTE after some bros here feedback theirs working. Maybe you can backlog this thread for m1 solutions.

For singtel just need ensure the singtel 4g clearvoice VAS is enabled on telco side, if not just call CSO up and let them know to activate for your line.
