I rarely go to Msia. M1 prepaid card. For a couple of days in Msia.

Do I need a roaming pack to use local voice call? Or can just use my Main Balance, as in considered local rate and not international?

Would the prepaid card work(cost wise) or is it better to buy a Msia tourist card(Hotlink)?

There is a couple of Gig of data in the card. Asking mainly for the voice call part as I need to call land lines.

Selected data on M1 Prepaid SIM can be used in Malaysia under MY CELCOM for free, mainly paid local data plans (and also new M Card free bundled data).

Voice calling on roaming networks will incur normal roaming voice call rates, not Singapore voice call rates. Same applies for SMS. Check rates at www.m1.com.sg/roaming.
The airtime charges can be deducted from your main and bonus balances, no need to buy the 2GB Roaming Data pack.

Try to use VoIP like WhatsApp Call instead of normal voice call if possible to reduce on those charges.

Getting a data plan for my 2nd phone. Low usage, 1-3GB average per mth.

options:
1) RedOne Postpaid. $8/mth. 3GB data, 100mins talk time. Can use in Msia.

2) M1 prepaid, buy $28 40GB data pack. every mth do extension $1/7days x4.

RedOne = $8x12 = $96
M1 prepaid = $28 + ($1x52) = $80

M1 prepaid seems cheaper over yearly expense.

What is your thoughts, is there anything I overlooked?

Thank you.

2) m1 prepaid 40gb (6gb data + 34gb bonus)
6gb can be stack with your $1 every week
34gb can only be stack if you get a plan with bonus data
Cheapest with bonus data is $14

M1 prepaid also can use in Malaysia

Oh... like that i can only roll over the 6GB each month.... that would be too costly.

So RedOne is more suitable in this case? Or is there other options for low data @minimun cost every month. It is a secondary phone so not using it much.

TPG is out because of the non-signal underground.

Tpg give the best deal

Circles $5 2gb 50mins
Vivifi $8.80 3gb 500mins
Redone $8 100mins
Giga $10 5gb free roll over data

For use in 2nd phone ??
Up to maximum 3GB needed per month?
2nd phone use for data only? (No need to bother about voice calls for this 2nd phone ??)

Buy a new M1 prepaid at $14. It comes with some FREE data given. Go M1 Web site for details:
https://www.m1.com.sg/mobile/prepaid-plans/m-card/sim

If -- for data only, you can use a new M1 prepaid for 3 months -- this way:

+ 1st month: 4GB data available to use
+ 2nd month: 4GB data available to use
+ 3rd month: 4.5GB data available to use

Use your brain to figure out how to get the above :)

End of 3 months, de-register the M1 prepaid & buy another new M1 prepaid.
Repeat the above every 3 months.

End of 1 year -- your total cost spent on above M1 prepaid is ONLY: 4 x $14 = $56 :)

***
BTW, if for data only -- you can also use a new M1 prepaid for 120days (4 months) -- this way:

+ 1st 30day: 4GB data available to use
+ 2nd 30day: 2GB data available to use
+ 3rd 30day: 2GB data available to use
+ 4th 30day: 4.5GB data available to use

Use your brain to figure out how to get the above :)

Also,
All M1 prepaid data plan purchased + the FREE data that comes with new M1 prepaid card can be use in M'sia + Indonesia + Taiwan + Hong Kong + Macau at no extra cost.

TPG is out because of the non-signal underground.
Do you stay underground for long periods??
Have you tried using TPG???

Why bunk something (if you didn't try using).
Since it's for secondary phone, and uses little data. Save the money and just use TPG for 6 months (or longer).
6 months down, maybe got even cheaper plans.

M1 Prepaid said:
$14

$14 Main Balance (180 days)
4GB Free Data (120 days)
4GB Rewards Data (30 days)
4GB - 30 days
4GB - Next 90 Days
$14 - To plan for the balance....

If your phone has dual SIM, can pair with TPG for the next 180 Days too.

Hi,

Currently using

1. Starhub Prepaid - main card for official contact, otp etc. Almost no data usage (since getting 2nd card on Giga). Initially ported to Starhub from Singtel for the ability to use local data while overseas. Currently mainly using this live for otp and extending expiry using the main balance.

2. Giga $18 plan - main data card for the few weeks I'm in Singapore for my part time job. Using more than 5 gb but less than 20 gb, so this card is perfect for the extra that I use with just typing up $8 per month over the $10 5 gb plan. Coverage is good as well for where I'm based most of the time.

Am considering porting the main card to M1 for redundancy as both cards currently run on Starhub's network. On the rare occasion that Starhub is down, I'm screwed and my part time job depend very much on connectivity. M1 instead of Singtel cos the local data (if I do buy) can use in neighboring countries for short trips. I do use tpg as well, but on my play phone, so I don't bring it out.

1. Can M1's prepaid card use main balance to extend expiry? I recall used to be able to, but need to confirm.

2. Now that IT show is cancelled, what are the lobangs now to get the cheapest M1 prepaid card? Number nice or not is not important as I'm porting over.

3. I assume the existing main balance in the new M1 card will still exist after I port over my Starhub line right?

4. Does M1 still have missed call notification?

My current Starhub card main balance is pretty low now and expiring soon, so it's a good time to think about this now, else will have to wait 6 months later.

Thanks.

1. Yes. 90 day or 180days both also can
2. Get the $18, come with 4gb each month for 3 months. You can also extend your expiry with the main balance. Or extend data at $1 each week. Read it up more on their websit
3. What do you mean? You will forfeit your starhub $ after you port to m1 prepaid
4. Yes, it’s chargeable.

Re no. 3, I mean, if I get the $18 card and it comes with (e.g.) $20 main balance, this $20 balance will still exist after I port over my Starhub number, right? I'm aware that I'll lose my Starhub balance, that's why it's good to think about this now as it's low and expiring soon.

Yes you will have $20 inside even after your porting is done.

Does the $18 M1 Prepaid Card exist?

I bought the $15 prepaid a few month ago and was given a discount with the SAFRA card. Now they have the $14 card which is valid up to 180 days too.
