Anyway I shortlisted a deal for a Panasonic system 2 (5 ticks), at best Denki. $1999.

Their installation contractor is Fusion Air-Con Engineering Pte Ltd.

Anyone tried them before?

Does the contractor patch up the wall if they say they need to knock off my concealed wall that covered the old pipes? Of they just leave a mess?

My previous contractor (20 years ago), hide so many pipes, now so much work have to be done to install the new unit. :s22:

Ac contractors usually Hack the wall well but cant patch it up well at all. Professional AC installer will engage 3rd party to do up the false ceiling or wall patching job but this will be super costly. So better check with them what they are offering you.

Anyway that's the most common problem in condominiums/landed, so the cheapest and easiest way to install new ac is to run the trunking exposed. You will get over it after a few weeks 😂

The recon fan motor only 3 months warranty. Wondering if I should take the gamble. Stock availability is still a question mark. I am also afraid the compressor might give up on me since current system already 9 years old. Dilemma.

Suggestion is dont take a recon one, you nv know the condition state of the old one, it might work for a month and break down again. Unless your installer guarantee at least 6 months warranty? Also It might be your system triggering to run the fan motor harder that cause it to break down if your ac installer dont find fix the whole problem.

But I think you should get a 2nd quote on the fan motor, for daikin compressor replacment only cost arnd 850 including labour, fan motor should be only around 300 for a brand new one.

Thanks shaoyuan for advice. Appreciate. Yes, so far I only get quote from 1 company.

Is there anyone else here who can share their experience on using best denki's installation contractor?

I wonder is LetsCool does it within the quoted price. Will ask them... Saw their previous completed project, they do canceled pipe. But pricing wise, they say “affordable”.

Yes, running my pipe exposed now. But still hiding some. :s22:

if no reviews, you just need to fall back to best denki if any issues. Ensure no hidden charges like extra piping length and stuff. 😁

I think if you only use aircon at night for two room, it's sufficient. Brand reliability is there and service is there if any issue. 👌

I came across "best tech" at IMM. Their daikin latest model ismile series only $2130 for system 2. Starmex is $2150.

1. Although I am buying system 2, but they giving me system 3 outdoor unit, because he say daikin don't manufacture outdoor unit for system 2

2. They using yamato insulation from japan (something new to me). Armaflex is from china and k-flex is from Italy.

3. Upgrade to 1/2 inch insulation piping.

4. Bracket for outdoor unit already included.

5. Dismantling and disposal of old unit also included

Good deal? The prices , especially for daikin, is much lower than elsewhere.... I scared got trapped.

Oh.. and... condition is servicing must get them to do it, 1 fancoil $30

1. Yes, it doesnt matter if it is for how many fcu, usage is the same

2.kflex is Italy brand but I think made from malaysia. Armaflex I think is us brand but made in china. Yamato is japan brand but to my knowledge there is air gap between the insulation and the coil which might cause condensation if not properly install. So just have to b4 careful will do.

3. Standard in market to give 1/2 inch now.

4. Bracket included is very good deal and your price is damn cheap, not sure how they do it actually. Servicing 30 per fcu is ok as long as they dont up sell you other stuff lor.

I’m going ahead with LetsCool, very professional site visit, patience and measures a lot of stuff. Able to quote me right away. Loves the pipe routes too.

Apparently it was my old pipe’s insulation decayed over the 10 years which pass on the condensation to the drain and cause my neighbour ceiling wet. So LetsCool said they will be able to fix that issue and advise me to use the old drain area.

Turns out the one that came for site visit was NaturalCool. Don’t even bother to quote me as they feel it’s complicated.

Too cheap i also will scared. For best tech, I have to service with them for at least 5 years else warranty void.

I have narrowed down to:
1. Panasonic system 2
2. Gain city $2069 or best denki $1999 exclude bracket.

3. One more option is europace brand by best denki, now for promo $300 off, so I can get system 3 at $1999

4. Is it worth getting extended warranty?

Brand choice is up to you, compare the specification u want rather than look at the price.

Extended warranty as long as not by manufacturer is quite useless. Alot of hidden charges they dont honour to my experience.

For your info, daikin i-smiles series is having 3 years manufacture warranty with system 3 and above. For them, they cover every single component without hidden charges. But price wise I think they will be more ex than panasonic and europace.

I am planning to shift out of current house in about 5 years time. Is already looking at most affordable options. It is unfortunate that the current give up on me at this point.

Hidden charges regarding extended warranty, are you referring to having to pay transport and labour for Gain City Technicians to come now for rectification work, if Gain city is covering the extended warranty?

I also thinking of getting midea, also moving out in 3 years time.. Current midea used for 6 years. One down already. Thinking eventually it would spoil might as well change now. Enjoy a new air con for 3 years and pass it next owner..

Yes, just ask them to state black and white to you on all aspect of the warranty. Labour, transport, spare part, top up gas if after repair is done if any, any spare part not covered, etc.

i was initially thinking of midea too but a few of my friends recommended starmex or daikin. are midea spare parts as easy to find?

IMHO, unless you are really in need of a cheap brand, why not consider the three or four big brands?
Then you won't need to worry about spares..
