never use cheque before :s13:
How do you get a US$ cheque?

are you able to transfer US dollars from SCB USD high account to SCB US$ settlement account? It's an internal transfer right?

SCB USD high account comes with a cheque book :)
transfer US$ from SCB USD high account to SCB US$ settlement account is internal transfer, instantaneous and no cost

Correct
Just open all settlement accounts as it is free

Hi shifus

How do I go about opening USD settlement account?

Currently I have the following accounts :
1) Jumpstart Acc
2) SGD Settlement Acc
3) Securities Trading Acc

Do I need to open another savings acc since Jumpstart is only in SGD?
Do I need to submit 8WBEN form also?

TIA

No, you just have to open the settlement accounts. Sure can just do it online. Think of it as, jumpstart savings account will transfer to your SGD/USD/EUR settlement account when you buy ur shares. Then they will be held in the securities trading account after that. Go in opposite direction when you sell ur shares. the SGD/USD/EUR settlement account is temporary holding the money only

I just had the same problem. Waiting for SMS and thought didn't make it but system was actually FF. I still received banking notifications today but not the trading transaction. Settings all ok. It's been 3 months since I traded on SC though, so dunno if anything changed. Maybe overwhelmed these few days so they switched off the notification system?
Last night(11pm), first time buying USA stock, get FF for the 3 US stock that I was buying but zero SMS/EMAIL alert.

This morning, around 10 am, getting a notification train of SMS and email from SCB trading .. Close to 11 hours delay.

I have an e-saver account that SCB forced me to open, when i opened an online trading account with SCB. Can i close the e-saver account while still retaining the online trading account? My SCB online trading account also have an SGD account, so i can just transfer $$$ directly to this account from other banks, when i want to invest right?

Only problem now is that i can't find a way to transfer out money from my SCB online trading account, into other bank accounts. This is not supported?
Why do you want to close this Esaver account?, there is no penalty to keep a minimum sum there, also, every fresh fund will have 2 months of high interest around 1% .

Can you point to the online location to add new FCY settlement account with existing trading account?
I can't find the direct online form that I can submit the application online,, only found application form for adding the settlement account which has a marking for existing trading account holder. That is to say to fill up to mail it handing it over at branch.

I visited a SCB branch whom asked me to go online to select new account option, it ended up with opening of new Esaver account without leading to adding new FCY settlement account for HKEX AND LSE trading..

Really stupid advice by the branch.. Wasted my trip there..

Ahh I see. If thats the case I think you need to go down to the branch to open. I recalled back then I just ticked all the markets on some form I guess. Just tell them you want to trade HK/LSE stocks and wanted to open the HKD and USD settlement account.

You can't open new FCY settlement account online.

You either get your RM to do get fill the form and courier the form to you for you to sign or you go down personally to the branch to do it. But some branches the people there also blur like sotong on SC online trading forms. :s13:

I also had experience with blur SC staff. I went to submit W8BEN form and asked him if it's possible to mail in the form. He said possible and then proceeded to check my form. I asked where should I send the form to when it's time to renew in 3 years. He said no need to renew, it's a one-time submission (which I believe it's not). Told me to just go back to the bank if really need to submit again and didn't give me an address. Another thing is, the W8BEN form I submitted was modified from the one auto-generated from FSMOne. I did the same with DBS and it was ok but he said form is filled wrongly. Guess it's not good enough for SCB...

I also had the same experience last Saturday (6 June) where I went down to SCB Clementi Mall branch where the lady who served me told me that the Securities acc and W8BEN form can be done online. I asked her how do I submit it then she said 'any method also can'... wtf is any method?? Then I asked her how again and she gave attitude without specifying how to submit again.. Among other questions that I tried clarifying also, she responded as if I was an idiot. Furthermore her replies does not answer my questions too.. 🙄 Asked for her namecard and wondering if I should write in to feedback.. #rant

Anyway, seems like SCB staff doesn't seem to know that this can't be done online.. If it can be done online, it would be helpful for them to say how it could be done instead..

I would like to ask, is it okay if I leave my securities acc and online trading acc untouched after successfully opening one? Because I no longer want to use it anymore. Will I incur any charges by leaving it around?

For SC, W8BEN form can be filled and submitted online now. Previously must send in signed paper copy.

hi, stupid question but recently I opened a SCB account

There is

1) FCY Securities Settlement Account (USD)
2) Securities Settlement Account (SGD)
3) ESavers (SGD)

and under Investments

4) Securities Trading Account (SGD)

Assuming if I want to buy IWDA and my money is in another bank right now, I should transfer to ESavers then into USD FCY SSA?

I clicked on Online Trading and when I tried to search for IWDA, nothing came up.. do i need money inside the account first before I can see it or am I missing something?

Use sc mobile app or inside laptop’s browser for scb internet banking
Transfer Sgd to esavers
Then transfer fm esavers to sgd settlement account
Use livefx to transfer fm Sgd settlement acct to usd settlement acct

I ran a search
There is IWDA in LSE
It is listed in London stock exchange I think

Actually the software and app is quite screwed! And also the price is not real time. Good if you are buying to keep long term. For short term, a bit waste of time

Isit necessary to transfer to sgd settlement acc first before going to usd settlement?

From the app it allows me to transfer directly from jump-start account to usd settlement account
