Lancau, how come MAS straight announcement, DBS straight revise their dividends payout?

DBS mention earlier no cut dividends due to strong capital base, but now collaborate with MAS? - 借刀杀人?

CEO continue to look good, while using MAS to cut dividends?

anyway MAS only recommend, is still up to the bank to make the call.

I am surprise that MAS can even recommend such things. Total nonsense.

It should be voted by the shareholders instead of the executives making the call.

MAS should consult shareholders and not the executives.

why would they need to preserve capital if business is good?

means MAS already give warning, recession coming, companies gonna collapse. bad debts gonna chiong.

So you agree business not good la. So you can’t say is destroying shareholder value but preserving then?

MAS have to ensure the stability of the financial landscape of Singapore. If the local banks don't manage their liquidity well in view of the tough times ahead, they may end up having to seek state assistance and the damage will be much worse. BoE also asked UK banks to freeze dividends a few months back.

Granted this is not quite laissez-faire but then again these are not normal times.

A bit wrong logic right. Shareholders never had a vote of how much dividends to give. They only got a vote on whether to even give the dividend that has been recommended.

Yup, before Net Profit. You now allocate more bonuses, net profit drops lo. Since dont need give dividend, can reduce profit already

Erm, do you think it will pass the smell test when suddenly employee cost (reportable) shoot up during such times?

Then sell the counter lor. Move on.

i dont have to sell, i just pity those that bought ytd.

Worst thing is executives know such things is coming, instead of alerting early, they decide to make the call suddenly.

Shareholders always at losing end.
