Amd is all about engineering now I guess
Making products work and work well and pushing the boundaries
When lisa su came in, amd study a lot about intel and what the future years of intel chips would be and then work to beat it

Intel with business mindset and too much people who talk only?
Intel engineering team still strong but prolly slacking off and intel unable to produce on 7nm tech by themselves and have delays in their 10nm tech which will handicap them the longer the delays

Intel 14nm chips are still powerful vs amd 7nm chips now so it shows their engineering team is good or even better than amd but losing out more and more now

they actually bought over some of glofo subsidiaries and tech.

Glofo was originally AMD's own foundry, they divested it and spun it off.
And over the years reduced reliance on it and choose TSMC for much of their products

With Zen they went all out on TSMC as a premium partner and relegate Glofo to entry or simplistic inconsequential products.

Wise decision, if notch they will be stuck worse than Intel, would be needing bailout.:s13:

wrong strat lor
intel wan ownself produce chips but lose to tsmc which specialized in producing chips
intel chips are all highly optimized and they can only choose to optimize cus still stuck in 14nm

intel will be back in game soon lar, jim keller helped them on their new chips

if you are doing semicon business,
make sure your CEO has strong technical background and keep abreast of technology. getting a CFO or business grad or accountant to be the CEO is suicidal. Worst of all, getting the wrong ceca. :s13:

AMD is not gona eat up intel ... at best grab more market to ensure their survival in future. Is good to see AMD become bigger. Intel has the strength to come back strongly if the right leader comes along. Else is bad for the computing world too.

Jim Keller didn't stayed long at Intel. he probably found something wrong there that's why he left within 2yrs.

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which currently has a staff strength of around 1,300 in India, plans to hire more engineers at its two Research and Development (R&D) centres in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

“We should be continuing to grow at the existing centres. We have many open jobs at each site,” Jim Anderson, Senior Vice President, AMD, told PTI.

In August 2012, Jim Keller returned to AMD, where his primary task was to lead development of new generation of x86-64 and ARM microarchitectures called Zen and K12.[16][15] After years of being unable to compete with Intel in the high-end CPU market, the new generation of Zen processors is hoped to restore AMD's position in the high-end x86-64 processor market.[4][14] On September 18, 2015, Keller departed from AMD to pursue other opportunities, ending his three-year employment at AMD.[21]

Made Dr Lisa Su as CEO:o
Yes because she is really expert at electrical engineering so as CEO she is really able to make good products.

Hiring those cfos or managerial ppl as ceo of tech company is really wrong move, they dun even understand the tech. They can hire for less technical industries like banks or restaurant la
