TS arrh TS.... You seen to be more interest in dep than other factor. Yes, you are correct. While you get a pretty new ride and near end coe ride, there are also factors to consider. Your call.
Personally, for short term usage like in your case, i will head to rent it. End of the term just throw back keys. Straight forward.

Thus I don't agree on calculation of depreciation is an informed decision to buy a car.

Hmm, guess I assume too good a scenario. So I guess getting a new car is out.

I search and found that a 9-10 yr car has a depreciation rate of around $7500. Similarly, a 3 yr car of around the same category also has similar or slightly depreciation rate. In that case, is it better to get a 3 yr car? It still has warranty, also assuming that its depreciation rate will not fall much more after a yr.

What you see is not the transacted price. Usually sgcarmart transacted price is lower.

It is just an online market place. I can put a Honda fit asking $10k per year or $5k per year.

Actual price transacted no one knows .. even dealers can go bargain a few k lesser.

This is not like a house where online got caveats lodged.
