Bed Sheets - What do you look for when buying them?

Hey guys.
I would like to ask what are some things you look out for when choosing and buying bed sheets? Any tips?

I've heard that you shouldn't be looking at threadcount.

Materials lor. If u want those silky smooth ones , can look out for tencel fabrics.

Of cos threadcount the higher generally the better.

I'm thinking of changing to linen. Read its more breathable and durable, suitable for SG's hot weather.

I bought tencel sheets before. At first I thought I would love it cos it was super smooth when I touched it. But after sleeping in it, I realized its too soft and light. Doesn't give that ''hugging'' feelings of the blanket? Like cannot feel the blanket on top of me at all. Maybe that's just me

I'm using linen bedsheets, it's pretty good, it can adjust to your body temperature. Also looks great without having to iron. It's just quite a bit more expensive, about 2-300+ for a king sized one made in belgium/italy with european flax. It can last a life time though.

Yeah from what i read, threadcount is not that indicative of quality and can be misleading. It's down to the material and cotton fibres used.

Sometimes silky smooth ones not the best for our climate. Also pretty subjective. I tried both AmazonBasics' 200TC and 400TC "sateen cotton", and I much prefer the cheaper 200TC normal cotton due to the slightly rougher texture. Plus the smoother sateen sheet seems to "dissipate" body heat less effectively.

I always pay attention for quality marks, materials they are made from and of course manufacturers information. It all mean a lot for bed sheets. Recently, when I've been ordering a new bed linen ( from this site: https://enjoyablehouse.com/best-fleece-sheets/ ), I've realized how great would it be to try cozy and fleece bedding. And I was completely right, I liked it.

You are right not to look at thread count as there's a ton of ways companies 'mark-up' the numbers.

For Singapore's weather, I'm personally using local brand 'Comffe' where they use 100% cotton, cooling yet practical. I love their Sahara and Timeless series, love the feel and design of the bedsheets.

I personally prefer tencel. it is cooler and smoother than linen.

I have been using sintex for quite a number of years. No complaints from me though. I always buy their single color set and i have quite a number of different colors.
