so far my China Mi TV3 is coming to 5yrs and still working... no excuse to convince to change

Wow - you are lucky.

My MI TV 4 like so many others hardly survived the warranty period.

Panel fault after 18 months - the reseller Smart Tech proposed a repair for $800-1000 :s8:

I am keeping my hands off this Chinese junk for now and going with something that has at least 3 years warranty.

Nope. Open on your HP and cast to TV.

Not possible through the Play store. Open on your phone and cast to the TV.

May I know why is it not possible? I was able to download it.on my other sony android tv.

I noticed alot of app available on my sony android is not available on the xiaomi although both uses playstore. Can someone help explain why is this so?

I can't find MeWatch for my Sony Android TV - which model are u using?

I noticed alot of app available on my sony android is not available on the xiaomi although both uses playstore. Can someone help explain why is this so?

TL;DR (Too Long; Don't Read)

There are -- if you will -- two (2) versions of Android:
(a) Android OS
(b) Android TV OS

Android phones & tablets always use (a). In order words -- Android phones & tablets never use (b).

Some Android TVs / TV boxes use (a) -- while more (& more) newer Android TVs / TV boxes use (b).

DO NOT ASK ME WHY THEY COME OUT w/ two (2) versions of Android. Go ask Google. Haha..

If your phone / tablet / TV / TV box runs (a) -- you should be able to find & install MeWatch from the Google Play store :)
(This is provided your TV / TV box that runs (a) has Google Play store bulit-in.)

The problem is..
MeWatch app -- which was previously Toggle app -- all along officially never support (b) Android TV OS !!

Since MeWatch don't support (b) i.e. Android TV OS...
So if your Android TV or TV box runs (b), you'll not be able to find MeWatch in the Play store on your TV that runs (b) !!

DO NOT ASK ME WHY MeWatch only supports (a) Android OS -- but don't support (b) Android TV OS. Go ask Mediacorp. Haha...

As far as I know (AFAIK),
Mediacorp expects/thinks that any TV (or TV box) that runs (b) Android TV OS -- will have Google Chomecast bulit-in...

So if your TV runs (b) -- then officially Mediacorp expects you to install MeWatch on your phone & Chromecast to your TV that runs (b).

Nowadays in Singapore -- 99.9% of people looking to buy a new Android TV -- wants the new TV to be 4K Netflix certified.

The "problem" is..
All 4K Netflix certified Android TVs -- always run (b) Android TV OS -- which is NOT SUPPORTED by MeWatch !!

Then subsequently after buying the new TV that runs (b) ...
The question "Why can't I find or install MeWatch from Playstore?" -- will appear again (& again & again)... Haha..

Also, if someone who never bought a TV box before asks for a TV box recommendation -- MORE THAN 90% of the time people will recommend Xiaomi Mi Box S.

But Xiaomi Mi Box S TV box also runs (b) Android TV OS -- which is NOT SUPPORTED by MeWatch !!

Then subsequently after buying the new Xiaomi Mi Box S that runs (b) ...
The question "Why can't I find or install MeWatch from Playstore?" -- will appear again (& again & again)... Haha..

If you want to watch Mediacorp stuff on your TV -- but don't wish to Chromecast from your phone/tablet:
(1) Go buy a new Apple TV !! (MeWatch is officially supported on Apple TV :) )
(2) Watch Mediacorp Live TV channels via (free-to-air) DVB-T2 broadcasts.

(1) can access both Mediacorp Live TV & VOD contents.
(2) can only access Mediacorp Live TV.

There is always an option (3) -- totally don't watch any Mediacorp stuff at all :)

If you give up watching any Mediacorp stuff (both Live TV & VOD contents) -- you no need to worry about casting from phone or whether MeWatch can be installed/used on your Android TV (or TV box).

Hope the above helps.

Very helpful. Thanks.

Actually there are alot other apps I can't find but using mewatch as an example to understand why.

I thought it's a region thing and maybe rooting or reset region might help. I guess in this case even sideload apk is of no use since it is totally not supported.

Maybe its my eyes, but I find MeWatch Chromecast quality to be quite **** compared to TV tuner. It's like a 560p upscaled to 720p/1080p, with noise during fast scenes. While TV tuner is crystal clear at 1080i, no quality drop

They must be on the SAME wifi network.

If one is on 2.4Ghz, the other must be on 2.4Ghz.

If one is on the 5Ghz band, the other must be on the 5Ghz band.

Try and let us know?

hey guys..

i'm currently considering TCL 55P8S from a local seller imported set, as well is global version Mi TV 4S 55". i've read back this thread and the closest i found was between TCL 55P8M.

may I ask for your recommendations for those using Mi TV 4S 55", so far how is it? anyone knows how does it compare to TCL 55P8S?

for me, i think important is convenience and ease of usage, and of course decent quality. i mainly use it for netflix, spotify and to watch local channels.

thank you all in advance!

Did anyone encounter that the XIAOMI TV 4S 65" is unable to achieve the 4K resolution & 60Hz panel refresh rate?

I only discovered when recently subscribe to netflix UHD plan. the playback specs indicates max playback resolution is SD.. Tried re-installing netflix app a few times still the same.

I tried the internet speed test @ fast.com & result is 50mbps (Recommended speed is 25mbps for 4K viewing)

Wondering if anyone encounter such issue with this MITV 4S?
