Just spoke to some of my friends who do video editing...

They say that Adobe is still more incline towards Intel.. even though the 14 2 update enables HEVC but...
For premiere 14.3 it's seems like Intel wins again
As Adobe Premiere is able to utilize Intel iGPU + dedicated GPU for rendering, which offloads a lot of work from the CPU

But for AMD. It's just CPU + GPU
Which cause AMD to be slower

Still... For everything else, AMD faster than Intel,

yeap, PP leverage on intel's igpu for a faster export. Think the performance gains for amd will come eventually as adobe optimises their apps.

good to see that amd has caught up, good for us consumers when there is fierce competition. shall see how the next gen intel/amd perform and make my decision again when the time has come to upgrade haha!

editing is my main priority that requires a beefy cpu + gpu so intel is the way to go.. for now. for other everyday tasks like surfing/office etc i am sure either will work fine :)

Cause windows is crap. Also, desktop os need to support a lot of things hence not optimized (background running telemetry / anti virus etc). Same hardware on dedicated task like server can be significantly faster, so it’s software problem.

It really depends on what you are doing. For stuff, the app is already optimized for the device when compiled so it doesn't need to worry/handle stuff that a general purpose desktop app/OS needs to worry about.

For others, I'm doubtful there is any off the shelf phone that can run apps in 6 virtual Windows/Linux machines faster than my laptop :D

not really, it depends on what laptop you are using. if you are using an entry level $400 laptop with entry specs and you compare it to your phone with latest gen chipset, of course the phone is going to be faster.

but if you use a laptop that is well specced, i dont really see why it will be slower than a phone.

but, still gotta see what kind of task @kly is performing

Thanks for the replies!! Hmmm, nice observation by Mystyque! Playing videos on the phone runs perfectly well as compared to the repeated buffering(at least once in 5seconds:s22:) on the computer webpage, even though both are on the same network, guess next time I'll use the app to watch lectures instead:s13:.

Using a lousy 5th gen intel HP laptop, serve me perfectly well in terms of websurfing/words/zoom and am getting a new one soon. Phone wise, using a Samsung S10e. Had to submit assignment just now, so I had to merge PDF files(total ~50mb). Using the same website to merge file, on laptop it showed ~30KB/s upload and I tried on my phone and it showed ~300KB/s. What's causing the discrepancies? I checked the wifi speed after merging and it showed 5/3Mbps(down/up), currently its 12/4Mbps. Or is it my wifi is just bad:s22:

In the end I use my phone hotspot to use my laptop sooooo much faster but waste data hahahaha:D:D

agree with yusoff that ur laptop should be capable.

from what you've described, it seems more of a wifi/network issue to me than the laptop's hardware. when you use ur phone you are at the same location as where the laptop is located? does your laptop support 5ghz wifi? my last 5th gen intel laptop only support 2.4ghz and always have some sort of connectivity issues when it is placed in a less than ideal location.

what is your experience when you use the laptop when its close to the router? got improvements?

try different scenerios, will help to narrow it down to what is causing the poor performance haha!
