personally i tink the device only cures people. wat did 焦 see? he wanted treasure but was disappointed. 江 wanted his sister to come back but the woman just pretended to be his sister. maybe there is something else but tis was moi conclusion...

听雷cannot bring a person back to life. But by telling one the future, its up to one to go and handle it
So 三叔 listen to thunder until he know his nephew 吴邪 going to up lorry in future, that why he tried to save his nephew now loh

The 听雷 + coffin zhup is useful for relieve 吴邪 illness, not totally cure it. He still need.modern medical science to save himself according to the novel

The human sized female doll actually is different between novel & the tv series.
In the novel, the doll follow 吴邪 because his body contain some kind of insect which is the same as the female doll
At one point the doll try to 'makan' 吴邪

the way 听雷 works is so vague and random. how did 三叔 listen and interpret its meaning? i get it that the pillars vibrate when there is thunderstorm. but then 三叔 record the thunder and suddenly know its meaning? did he interpret it from the pillars, or is there something more to it?
