Actually it is hard to quantify the amount of net worth without salary inflow. Are you deducting the value at its face value.
E.g. 6k saved , deduct 6k to net worth ?

Reason I asked is the salary inflow (if invested), gives a much higher return then without salary.

The result is your ytd investment return can be inflated both positively or negatively due to this "leverage" from cash savings.

In short, the ytd net worth is definitely accurate.

The ytd investment growth is based on simple return according to net value / net deposit ?

The net worth without inflow seems like an estimate to me...could you elaborate how u calculate ?

super impressive. Even after deducting for expenses, your networth increases by 5-digits every month!

my personal target for 2020 is just to get 0% return on investment and hope to make a fresh start in 2021

I think I got 8% in 2018, 20% in 2019, so 0% in 2020 will give me a 3-year average of 9.3%...

You are right, my method of calculation of YTD investment growth is not accurate. I maintain monthly balance of my networth and salary savings and expenses. I take end of last year networth as reference point and then at the end of every month, I use the latest networth and subtract my salary inflow and count the difference as YTD investment growth. It is not accurate, but it gives me a rough idea of what my networth growth due to incremental salary savings accumulation is and what is due to investment gains. I have this computed since 2009 and at some point I am hoping my incremental salary savings is smaller compared to the networth growth.

yeah 2018 and 2019 were generally "green" years, surprising if you got 50% loss in those 2 years.

if your 50% loss was in 2020, when you average out with your 2018 and 2019 gains, hopefully average return is not too bad.

You DCA 3 of them every month?

No lah, I am very adhoc, this is how the allocation stands right now. I bought 10% of S&P500 in one shot just before the election day. But now I hope can stick with this allocation and build on it steadily.
