Look like Starhub trying to force a shut down of their tv. Of all the routers in the world, they have to paired it with Nokia router. Created more problem than it is supposed to solve

Go read the SH community pages. This issue has been going on for quite awhile and nothing has been done to resolve it.
Those who are thinking of signing up for SH tv streaming services better think twice.

I love tech and at one time contemplated do an early RE-contract for my HomeHub but held back when the sales person at StarHub told me I need to use the Nokia Beacon WiFi system to receive free to air channels which is something I don’t wish to do because my existing Apple Time Capsule and Apple AirPort Express mesh network serves me well and it’s rock stable.

Why fix something that is ain’t broken?
Luckily I didn’t make the switch and probably would not because the android TV box and StarHub TV+ platform itself is very unstable and I’ll probably remained on StarHub’s grandfathered homehub plan.

😀😀😀😀

Now I understand why Starhub TV+ was a disaster.

From LinkedIn, their Head of TV Product Development Clarence Khoo left in Sep 2020, shortly after this disaster product was launched.

Perhaps there is no ownership in this product anymore.

talk to your frens in this industry, so you can understand better instead of relying on internet search and guesses. There are larger forces in the background than just a head of PD. Which i can tell you has very little say.

Hey guys. Need advice on cord cutting with Starhub tv and internet.

Current plan is bundled Starhub TV and 1Gbps Fibre expiring next month

I want to keep 1Gbps Fibre internet but stop Starhub TV. I've did a test run of connecting my Samsung TV (UA49MU6100) to the internet and scan for digital channels (Channel 5/8/CNA). But no channel was found. (Do I need an antenna?)

Mum only watch Channel 8 and I watch streaming service on my computer.

How do I enable my Samsung TV to watch HD channel 8 on Starhub internet?

Super noob at this, hope you guys can advise. Thanks!

Is your TV digital TV-ready? If yes, you would need to attach an antenna to it (based on what I see online, your tv looks like it is digital tv ready. In this case, you will need to get an antenna). If no, you will need to get a digital tv box. Note: this is not through the internet and is not telco dependent.

If you want to watch the free to air channels over the internet, you will need to use mewatch.

Well your TV is a 4K smart TV series 6, you will need an indoor antenna to watch the FTA channels. If you want to watch via internet then you have to use mewatch app which is available on your TV. You can watch Netflix 4k and Disney+ 4k using your TV. Some other app are also available.

Hi,

A noob question here, so to view free OTA channels on SH TV+, we must use either the Nokia or the 2 Linksys routers StarHub states?

So I cannot say use my own ASUS router to hook up the SH TV+ box and watch OTA channels?

That is correct.

You can always buy an antenna if your TV is digital TV ready (built in DVB-T2 tuner). If not, buy a tuner box and antenna.

Isn’t SingTel doing a better job. At least they are offering a decent Cable Channel package and not deceiving subscribers to change to their streaming services. I guess it is a better of directions which Starhub senior management is sold that the future is content streaming and agree with a disconnect of traditional cable channel.

IMO Starhub TV+ could have worked with better QC on the product. However, they chose to screw things up themselves, tangled with poor out of country support team.

Agreed, Starhub don't care about customers needs and removes channels with no replacements, naturally subscribers will be unhappy and move over to other operators. But Starhub claims their TV subs down because of so call trend to OTT apps, hahahaha ... they are in self denial. Not everyone likes watching programs on a small phone and the hassle of switching apps, Chromecasting, technical issues etc. Oh well.

The published rates on their website is at $45.90/mth. You can try to contact them to see if you can get better rates.

That S$45.9 per month price includes 12 months of Disney+.

New customer may get three months free. Existing customers may try to negotiate with Starhub to get recontract offer as well (say two months free or more).

"1Gbps Fibre Broadband | StarHub Home Broadband" https://www.starhub.com/personal/home-broadband/fibre-broadband-plans/fibre-1gbps.html

Enjoy 12 months of Disney+ on us!
Switch to StarHub and enjoy FREE 3 mths 1Gbps Broadband with promo code SHSWITCH2. Plus, FREE StarHub Smart WiFi worth $199!

By right should be $39.90 with contract. But now they give out 12 mths Disney+ so add $5.
