Just get a standard single cylinder deadbolt. Yale brand should be fine as August is under its umbrella. Nelson brand also can. Yale is a safe bet. Will work for Lockly deadbolt too.

Are you prepared to pay a premium for fingerprint and PIN access and drill extra small hole on your door? If yes, Lockly.

My advice, get August 4th gen smart lock and companion Keypad for PIN access. Just no fingerprint access. Spare cash to buy CR123 rechargeable batteries and charger.
Thanks for the info. :) Should be able to get any locksmith in sg to install the deadbolt for me with yale deadbolt right? They should have yale deadbolt.

Look at this link

Yours is new or old door?

If new door, you might want to consider Navis Paddle instead of the typical door lockset. See video as follow.

If old door, do you already have lockset? What’s lockset? See here. If the deadbolt is already there, you don’t need a locksmith. Just install the August lock yourself. But if you want to change key, you have to buy a new deadbolt and get a locksmith to install for you. Actually, very easy to do it yourself. The holes are already there. Just take out the old one and install the new one.

Mine is old door with mortise lock. Do not want to dismantle the original mortise lock. Therefore would like to drill a hole for deadbolt lock and install a digital deadbolt lock. Drilling the hole I guess will need a locksmith. Since alrd engage a locksmith to drill, might as well ask if he can help install the august lock if I am getting that. 😄

Mine is just those normal mortise lock with that big long handle bar on the door. No turn knobs. Just use key to open

the installing of August part is very simple that anyone can do in few minutes.

just find a locksmith with the tools to drill new hole will do (some only do picklocking and replacement).

most locksmiths also offers their own deadbolt lock as package

compatibility wise, just have to check the lock shaft design if it fits any of the 3 or 4 plastic adapter of August

been using August since gen 1. never encounter any issue so long u setup the wifi bridge.

if I forgot key, phone then just press my internet door bell and get my wife to remotely unlock the door for me.

As for my in law or parents coming over, I always ask them to press door bell and I will unlock for them.

There are widget for my phone and also work from my apple watch. For apple watch don't need the phone to unlock the door.

Whenever I go out for run in early morning just back and use Apple watch to unlock the door.

August is good for all wood door in sg without a need to make changes to your existing deadblot lock.

Good for people who still prefer key and also people in the same house hold that want to go digital.

Dont need to worry elect mortise die as deadblot is mechanical.

I only don't like the keypad as it spoil easily so end up never bother to replace it anymore after 3 die on me and since i hardly use the keypad also.

love the auto unlock as it is base on geo location, so when back home, carry heavy thing I dont need to do anything to unlock the door. I do saw online review August work best for iPhone but suck in Android.

Lastly August accept rechargeable battery and I just change every few months..

Since August connect to internet, I always aware if my door is unlock by anyone and if my kids or wife is back home already.

I love the always aware if your door is open by who or unlock by who. At least you never need to wonder who come my house today as you come back home with thing move by someone maybe parents etcs.

Totally agree, especially on the elect mortise part. Elect gadgets can never last beyond mechanical, and the best part of August is even when it's spoilt there's no worries or hassles/urgency of being lockout/replace lock etc. Simply buy a new August to DIY replace easily

On being aware of who's visiting, I rely on video doorbell for PIR alerts as well as live intercom with deliveries etc

I like everything about August locks except you need a smart device to unlock the door. The keypad seems unreliable and for visitors, downloading an app just to gain entry when you're not around is very cumbersome. If they had a more reliable keypad I would use August in a heartbeat.

My FDW helper uses the Keypad all the time. I do use it when the Auto-Unlock feature failed to work once in a while and I too lazy to reach for my phone. I guess visitors not use to the Keypad. You have to press hard and move slowly to the next number. It’s not unreliable. User problem.

The next best smart lock for me is Lockly. I didn’t go for it because it requires to drill a second small hole in the door to stable secure the lock. I can use the 3M sticker if I don’t want to drill hole but the lock will be less stable and secure.

August is perfect for my need. I got mechanical backup key. Doesn’t announce to the whole neighbourhood that I have a smart lock. Entry alerts. If spoil, just replace with another one or something similar like Friday smart lock without needing a locksmith. All I need now is a video doorbell perfect for my needs. Haven’t found one yet.
you can consider Ring door bell

I think I will go with charsiewfan's suggestion to use Yale Assure with August. I like the built-in keypad combined with August's platform. The reviews seem to be very good for this combination.

My gateman z10 gonna uplorry soon (requires battery change every 3 weeks).

Saw that there's Kaiser+ for metal gate.

Anyone using it? Reliable and is the fingerprint sensor accurate?

Else, have no choice but to change back to Gateman Gswipe

I've seen it Kaiser+ (but no personal experience in using it). It looks flimsy (with lots of plastics) compared to your Z10. Kaiser is aggressively marketed from Korea, sales/marketing front , but it is clearly a chop-your-own-brand name sourced from contract manufacturers. My concern with this category of brand is that sometimes there is no backbone to it; there is no real lock company, so it is a very short term construct - that comes and go, sometimes returning under a different brand / team. There is less lock quality accountability in such arrangement.

Icic. Z10 feels premium but also goes kaput within 3 years (just saying). And z10 fingerprint sensor is very unsuitable if you do alot of housework (faint fingerprint). Hahahha

If battery water had leaked before and had corroded the circuit board or the terminals, the longevity will be shortened, regardless of brands. That is a user problem (mostly) - though the design of the battery compartment and circuit board position and connectivity matters.

Battery power draining fast, and other intermittent issues would be symptoms of corroded terminals or circuit board. Some of my family members cannot tell if battery had leaked though it is apparent to me. Fingerprint issue - there is a cost vs recognition rate (and other factors on surface durability). I am not sure what goes into a less premium lock. Something gives with low price.

Yea, likely got water leak before hence the battery drain.

Apparent Kaiser+ for gate got a metal version. Tempting
