I feel this is a typical scenario regardless of ISP. When there's no issue, things will flow smoothly. When something goes wrong, there will be a lot of finger pointing and delays.Coming on board from SH to M1. Lets see how is the whole xperience been like?
From sign up to the first appt, the whole ordeal been quite bad and the people in the chat and hotline just keep pushing the situation around without resolutions.
Based on the options available, I agree point A is the best. But if you can, actually having it outside bedroom 3 (near the door) in the living room is better since there is no obstruction from the satellite unit to the main unit, and its in the center of the house.Any expert here can advise where is the best place to put my node? Yeah but like all such comparisons, take with a grain of salt...It's actually not outdate, Last Updated: April 2021. some details how they derive the ranking: ispspeedindex.netflix.net/about. They mention they'll include the ISP in the comparison if user population of that ISP is larger than 1%.
I assume Netflix should be fair and have enough data to plot the comparison.
Compare the ranking with this. www.speedtest.net/awards/singapore/
I find it quite interesting.
Get a mesh.Hi guys need some advice here. I am confused about wifi mesh, wireless repeater & Node.
If I want my whole place(2 rooms and living room) to be covered, which should I be getting?
Think I post it before. If you happen to go conference call with M1, frequently audi will get break up.so what is the result of the tesing - m1 vs SH?
I also thought maybe user's WIFi router plays a more important role in affecting the charts than the ISP.Yeah but like all such comparisons, take with a grain of salt...
For netflix and speedtest, there are local servers, all the isps peer with large content providers like netflix and host their own speedtest servers, and everyone in the country can get fibre. Anyone who's using an ethernet connection *can* get 1gbps to speedtest or netflix with any isp in the country, and testing conducted equally (ie using the same equipment and conditions for each provider) is going to produce the same results for all providers within a small margin of error.
What's going to have more of an effect on performance here is end user equipment and things like wifi signal strength, factors which are outside the provider's control.
It's different in other larger countries, where fibre rollout is patchy and you will have users on a mix of different connection types. Some cities in the US for instance have fibre and can get 1gbps, whereas some places don't even have adsl and people are still using dialup, and often at rates considerably lower than 56k because of line length and quality.
What really matters when comparing providers is peering and internaional uplinks, support for ipv6, lack of or level of traffic throttling, lack of cgnat, ability to use own equipment vs forced to use supplied equipment etc. Neither the netflix nor speedtest stats take any of this into account.
It's not lousy, It is not the best router but it does the job well and its wifi6. Positioning plays a key role in getting good signal. Mount this router at the "near center" of your flat then it will cover all the blind spots. No need to get those fancy meshes. Best of all its FREE in 1gbps plan.May I know if this a lousy router??

Should I get Google nest wifi or the latest wifi-6 TP-LINK Deco X60?Get a mesh.
If you have network point around your house a dual band mesh is good enough.
If you plan to run wireless backhual than get a mesh with tri band wifi. It 'help' to keep the wifi speed

I will be signing up as a new user. If I get the WIFI 6 Deco X60, Will the modem provided by M1 be good enough or I need to purchase my own modem? If getting new router i will go for WIFI 6 Deco X60.
No point invest on old WIFI 5 hardware.
Actually I never run into this issue when using M1. Same goes for my experience with Starhub now.Think I post it before. If you happen to go conference call with M1, frequently audi will get break up.
In term of price. I think M1 still the cheapest. Thanks for sharing again. was thinking to sign up m1 next mth. now, will consider SH if ST has no better offers for my renewal.
The ONT (the so called modem is not really a modem but a fiber optical terminal)I will be signing up as a new user. If I get the WIFI 6 Deco X60, Will the modem provided by M1 be good enough or I need to purchase my own modem?
