Optical Termination Point Installation by Netlink Trust

Hi everyone, need some advise and enlightenment.

I have done a renovation to my house and will be relocating the Optical Termination Point (OTP) to a place further than the original one. My electrician has laid the fibre cable (the black cladding one) from the outside my house to the new OTP location. I assume that NLT has to come down to splice the new cable to the older outside the house and terminate the cable into the new OTP on the wall.

Will NLT be doing any testing before commissioning the line? Will the share the results of their test after the installation? Any test readings that I should take note of?

My electrician only laid the black cladding cable. He says for termination, he will need to arrange another group to do it. I'm not sure if that will be NLT or another outsourced vendor. I just hope that the splicing is done properly and test results are within the acceptable value. But I also don't know what is within the acceptable range.

Just a word of advice for those who are reading.

You're supposed to get NLT to do the relocation for you.

Its known as an internal relocation. This needs to be told to your ISP.

NLT appointed contractors will come and lay a new line from the point at the common corridor to your home, do the necessary QC and validation signal tests for your ONT/ONR to work properly.

FYI - they do record the installation location as well as signal readings. If they do suspect foul play, they are able to pull up previous records of where the FTP was last installed.

If you get found out, likely you'll need to pay the full amount (or some other charges on top) of laying a new FTP from the common corridor to your unit - as this length is maintained by NLT for a reason.

If everyone does this, who is going to be held responsible if they damage/break other units' connectors/lines?

Bottom line - You're not supposed to tamper with the FTP and its cabling from your unit to the riser.

MAYBE TS ACTUALLY OWNS A HOUSE...
A HOUSE WITH A DRIVEWAY...
Then it wouldn't be odd that his contractor does this and NLT comes to do COPIF certification.

Sorry, please let me clarify.

My electrician only laid the fibre from outside the house to inside the house where the new FTP will be. Both ends were left hanging loose.

Electrician has to make appointment with another contractor to come and splice the cable outside the house and also terminate to the FTP inside the house. I guess this should done be done by an authorized installer by Netlink Trust.

My only worry is the line that was laid by the electrician (any kinks, bends, knots, etc.) and the "cleanliness" of the line. Cos it's after all a renovation and that environment is not good for fibre connection.

The box was left open all the time. It was the first thing that I spotted when I went to view the flat (I'm anal about having a proper fibre line). Not sure who did that. But I'm gonna zip tie it after my installation is done.

I will not be touching anything outside. I hope the other group of contract that my electrician invited is an authorized installer by Netlink Trust. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The installation is today and I requested to be informed so that I can be around to verify their work.

It's weird. They only did the splicing and terminating to FTP using a machine. Like use the maching to kiap 2 very thin fiber lines then finish. This procedure done inside the house and outside the house. After that, they did a "continuity" test then end of story liao. I asked if they will be testing the line and taking any readings, they said the internet not activated and they can't test it.

I'm checking with my electrician and waiting for his reply.
