U-Home went MIA on us after doing site visit and saying they will send us the quotation. No sound no shadow after.

In the end, we went with Swiss Interior which was very responsive and also prompt to follow up on touch-up even after final payment was settled.
May I know which designer from Swiss Interior that you engaged? How was their workmanship? How much did it costs (if you don't mind sharing details)

Has anyone compiled a list of ID companies/contractors that has sufficient manpower for their job? I guess in current times, sufficient foreign manpower is no.1 priority.

I recently bought very old resale 5 room. I want to hack balcony area cos the wall and floor is slightly bumpy there. Living room i intend to get vinyl flooring overlay cos cheaper than hacking.

Anyone heard of ARTISAN HOMES CONTRACTOR PTE LTD? whether they good or not
even if there was such a list (which practically speaking isn't straightforwad to compile at all), the top in the list will very quickly drop out of the list as everyone will try to engage them...

You want to hack the balcony wall???? It's much cheaper to just plaster and smoothen the walls than to hack and rebuild them.

Are home trust reviews reliable or real? Am starting to be quite doubtful of these reviews nowadays...

Is it easy to remove a door+frame from an existing study room, hack down wall between study and bedroom, remove door+frame from bedroom, and install the study room door+frame over to bedroom side? Coz of the way it opens, bedroom door will open towards the middle of the expanded room as compared to using study room door which will open towards the wardrobe at the side.

Another reason is that i may not be able to get the same colour laminate as with other doors.

Planning to do minor works in my new resale flat. May I know where do you guys find individual contractors?

I don't wanna go through ID for the extra costs as I'm only doing a light renovation.
Google.com

What kind of minor works are you doing? Letterbox no adverts? Usually those small sub cons will do their marketing but putting leaflets into letterboxes.

Google shows a lot of ID company so I'm not sure how do I differentiate them.
Eh, already asked you for the scope of works. If you are changing windows, Google for that. If you are changing WC, Google for that. IDs do design and space planning. You are looking for contractors not designers. What do you Google for to get 'a lot of ID companies' result?

lemon fridge studio and charlotte's carpentry are also part of my shortlisted!

recently also came across 1618design on instagram..

has anybody engaged any of the above before? :D
Hi CookieMonstereo,

Hope you are doing well.

Are you ok to share your experience with either company?

I am leaning towards Charlotte's carpentry to renovate my house next.

How did it go for you?

Have engaged Charlotte's Carpentry for my home renovation. So far so good. Replies and updates were quite prompt, and progress is more or less on schedule. Expected handover is end Nov or early Dec, hopefully things continue smoothly.

My friend's 4-room reslale at Bishan 2 years ago was done by them. The workmanship is ok, not too bad. Not the cheapest one out there but the delivered. That was before covid though, so not sure how much has changed now.

Is it wise to engage ID for a 2bedroom new condo?
I don't understand the point of your question. Not wise as in cos it's a 2 bedroom and not a 1 bedder or a 4 bedroom? Not wise cos it's brand new and not old? Not wise becos yours is a condo and not a HDB?

People engage ID cos they want the space planning and aesthetic design services. If you think you can handle these on your own, then probably not wise to engage. Don't confuse ID with project management. Some IDs provide project management services, some purely do consulting only.

Thanks for the feedback.
I am more concerned being 2bedroom new condo, they may forsee not much meat to chew and so they may not be interested in it.

Currently starting to engage them. Lets see how.

You are partially right. What's your reno budget? If your reno budget is $100k, quite a number of smaller companies will want to chew.
