That is normal. You ownself have to do due diligence. Not all USB-C cables are the same.

A $10 cable could be either 100W PD 2m, or non-PD USB3.2 Gen 1 1m. Read the label/box carefully. I've never had any issues with UGreen. Got them all via Amazon SG. MicroUSB, USB-C data, USB-C PD, USB hub, USB hub switch, DP cable.

Personally use all 3 brands.
All okay and works well but please do your own due diligence.
Can buy those 60/100W Charging Cables (But they are USB2 for Data Transmission Only)
HDMI need to confirm they are HDMI 2.1 if you want HDMI 2.1 otherwise if never state will be HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0
3 in 1 charging cables none of them supports data no matter the brand.

If you need 10Gbps connection (for external SSD/Dock/Hub), You need USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 at least. Look out for that specification and rating.

If you just need fast charging, the slower Gen 1 and earlier (480Mbps) is fine. They're also lighter and more flexible than the Gen 2/Gen 2x2 cables that seem to be quite stiff.

I have a few of each depending on my use case. For charging, I just use the more flexible ones along with a 65W GaN charger. For data transfer to my Dock or external SSDs, I use the Gen 2 cables.

I hate how the USB consortium does not wish to standardise properly and allows the USB Specification to be so messed up. They should just draw the line properly so all cables have the same standard spec and we don't have a problem.

prices - Ugreen > Vention > Baseus. prefer Vention. they are good value for the price. saw a Vention cable selling $3 in Shopee which is selling $8 in Challenger ( same packaging ).

I've also found USAMS to be reasonably high quality. Bought 2 65W GaN chargers a few weeks from Lazada for under $21 each, and added on a pair of 2M 100W cables too. Whole thing just $50.29.

Build quality is good and charging is pretty stable without fluctuations, so I'm happy with it.

Definitely cheaper than Ugreen and Baseus.

Be careful when buying 10Gbps USB-C to C cable for connecting laptop USB-C port to monitor USB-C.
Those that not marked with 10Gbps can only charge the laptop but unable to send video signal to monitor.

10Gbps USB-C to C cable cost more than a 5A USB-C to C.
I am using Dell USB-C/USB-C Hub monitors at home/work.

Yep. These are USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 cables. (3.1 Gen 2 is apparently 5Gbps).

Yes, that's okay. Just look for the specifications to ensure it states 480Mbps data transfer.

There are charge-only cables with the data pins disabled. The USB standard is really messed up because a lot of manufacturers just want to make cheap cables.
