Though hokkien and teochew sound similar when you heard they speak and most local will understand

But when come to speaking the dialect hokkien is easier to pickup as compare to teochew

My parents only speak Teochew to their parents.

Now also seldom visit grandparents. My mom would laugh at me each time I speak Teochew, she said how come its Hokkien???
Then go watch YouTube teochew lar. I smelly smelly speak fluent 2 dialects, yet still learning Russian nao. See chiu no up!

Anyone knows the difference between Hokkien and teochew sayings?

I always get confused between the 2, they seem so similar and interchangeable.

can share a few sayings between the 2 language?
if you listen carefully, teochew words will never end with the "t" consonant.

for e.g. 7 in hokkien is "chit" but in teochew is chik. number one in hokkien is "dei it" but in teochew is "doi ik".

Why Hokkien song always lyrics got lao bark sai?
Teochew songs don’t have.
Both considered descended from Minnan language, therefore closely related.
Eg 拖鞋 in Mandarin is 鞋拖 in both Teochew/Hokkien. Many words are topeng from Mandarin for both dialects.

There's a few sayings passed down the generations...

teo chew hao lian = super like to show off because face matters and ego over everything

hokkien dua pao does NOT mean showoff (instead the opposite is true, hokkiens hide wealth well). Instead it means loud and uncouth because the dialect was spoken in a manner that.

Anyway ethnic Chinese are so integrated that now dialects are almost irrelevant...
