hokchew ish not the common hokkien here lol.
hokchew, hokchia, hokching etc ish closer to eastern hokkien.
the local hokkien ish southern hokkien.

in short, foo chew nin ish not hokkien lang.

My grandparent is hock chew. He knows hokkien and canto.

but they dun consider themselves hokkien, and hockchew ish diff from hokkien.

Yea I heard before the dialect , sounds like mix of hokkien+ canto pronounce hard to learn and grasp. Even my mum only know one word of hockchew lol since it’s really quite useless to use in sg and it’s hard

they are from the same southern hokkien family. they are by large mutually intelligible.
hokkien and teochew can understand each other fairly well, thou they cannot speak in each other's accent or tones.

hindi and tamil are from different family. they are generally not mutually intelligible.
hindi ish the same as angmoh indo-european family. tamil ish south-indian dravidian family.

minnan ppl moved thru central china to the south, therefore affected by the central china chu region accent.
hockchew ppl moved thru the coastal wu-yue region, so they were affected by the wu-yue accent.
they say ni for 2 and nin for ppl, just like shanghainese.

hokkien 文读 is more in depth in comparison with teochew 文读

it might be so, but teochews like to show-off they more literate, so in daily usage they apply more formal pronunciations.
hokkien uses the colloquial pronunciation more often in everyday exchanges, so they sounded a little more crude.
for eg NS, zor biah for teochew while zoh peng for hokkien, 'biah' and 'peng' ish formal vs colloquial.
then u got words like 'safety', uah chuang vs hokkien an chuan, 'uah' and 'an' ish again formal vs colloquial.

Hokkien, Teochew and Cantonese only kau is common

modern mandarin ish an independent artificial language that has no relation to anyone.
there ish no dialect group affiliated with modern mandarin.

ji ish generally for scolding female only. and usually suay ji, lok ji. not chao ji.
