Cables from Baseus or Ugreen or Vention = Are They Okay ?

hi,

how are handphone charging cables or HDMI and other video cables from Baseus or Ugreen or Vention ??

prices are really good and their cables look impressive

bought 1 Baseus 3-in-1 charging cable but can only charge phone, NO data transmission !.........they only say this in fine print

so should i get another Baseus or Ugreen or Vention ?

I ordered and just received my 6 different variants of designs baseus cables last week, connectors include micro-usb and usb-c.. I would say I'm quite impressed with the quality.

I've used u green cables for a long time too and will probably go for baseus in future.

If anyone is interested I could take some pics, they feel and are pretty high quality.

I basically swapped all my cables to baseus ones lol.

But one thing ah, buy that time must be careful as the product listing page is not very well documented. Clarify with the seller when in doubt!

Also, this is China you're dealing with. It's a known fact that authenticity to them is not a strong suit - everyone claims to be "official" and "authentic" all the time when shopping there, especially those selling fakes. Just exercise your own discretion and make a judgment call for what's best for you. Sometimes cheapest is not the best, and sometimes it's cheap enough for you to ignore the fact that it's obviously not official. User comments help, but feedback can be faked (sellers can just buy their own products to leave fake reviews). Caveat emptor applies while shopping online.

There's a reason why people are willing to risk online shopping - it's already cheaper than retail because they don't bear the additional middleman overheads of rental, utilities, staff, and of course reseller profits... You could always pay two-four times the price by traveling to a mall and buying it there if you wish. The same is true even across the various platforms - resellers have their own pricing, but are still cheaper than brick and mortar retail anyway. You choose where you want to buy from.

Don't expect them to set a standard retail price across the board - they are not dealing with high profit margin items like mobile phones and laptops.

Challenger's house brand cables are also sourced from the same Chinese suppliers. If you observe carefully, some local brands appear very similar to Chinese OEMs that are probably rebranded by resellers. For example, there's a Titan Power cable I saw in Popular for as high as $34.90, and on Shopee we see the exact same OEM by McDodo that goes as low as $1.79 - same description, same shape, same green LED light, same nylon braiding, same L angle connector. Whichever you choose, it's your money so you decide. For me, I have a few of the McDodo cables and find them decent.

To put it in perspective, just a few years ago, the "good" cables were all in the $20-40 range with the brands like Anker, Imation, Sony etc. Today they're around $2-10 and the quality is as good as or even better than "good" cables in the past thanks to the named brands like Ugreen, Vention, Baseus, USAMS, McDodo, etc.


tl;dr: Not happy with one shop (cos too expensive, cos not official, cos <insert your own complaint>), buy elsewhere that makes you happier. But once you buy it, just accept it as purchased and move on. No point comparing and saying "I should have bought from <alternative platform> cos cheaper/better/faster/buy1get10000free/etc."

actually no issue. all are made from china regardless which brand you buy. Well reliability depend on your expectation lolz. I used most of the brand and find that Ugreen, ventian and Okonz seem quite good. Okonz seem premium as it is more costly than the rest

Okonz = never heard of it but the name doesn't inspire confidence leh...........really good, huh ?

I think they are local distributor and i got 2 of their ubc c to c cable. quite a good quality and Not bad for fast charging

I bought a few chargers from Baseus before, and they are mostly ok but quality is noticeably lower than Ugreen. Their GaN chargers usually only come with the Euro/US plug which is quite annoying. Baseus cables are fine, their 100W USB C cables are quite thick and well-built, but AVOID their lightning cables.

Vention cables and adapters are quite good, their USB-C dongle adapters are very popular and work with just about everything (Macs, Chromecast with Google TV etc.)

Ugreen is probably what I will buy from now on, yes they are a little bit more expensive but at least they don't fake their MFI cables like Baseus. I got a Ugreen 25W charger with a 2m 60W USB C cable for about $11 on Lazada, and Samsung can fk off with their charger BS.

Currently using a 65W GaN charger from ProLink, really well-built but they don't go on sale often.

Challenger Valore cables are absolute trash. My mum bought a few during their "clearance sales", pretty sure all of them were thrown away.

Vention slightly Cheaper.
Sometimes Ugreen no stock, moi buy Vention.
Or Ugreen too exp, moi by the slightly cheaper Vention.
Quality wise, cannot compaint for what we pay for.

The only poor Ugreen products i bought are the USB c hub and 20W charger (usb c port too tight).

The Ugreen 100w 3x usb c and 1x usb A wall charger is great for my travel and daily commute.

I bought Kulaa usb cables, cheaper than ugreen/vention and works well. Vention's Cat-8 LAN cables are the best too i feel. Usams GAN charger is good too.

Yeah they did.

Am now trying USAMS cables because of their GaN charger that I posted a screenshot above - wanted one with a UK 3 pin plug (cos some places outside, you need to trigger the "safety" with the grounding pin and I don't want to carry the flimsy EU->UK adaptor around). Am quite impressed with the quality. The fact that it was $25 for a 65WGaN+2M 100W cable helped too. The Baseus 65W 2-pin charger alone was $29 that day.

Generally, there are some up and coming brands that are very high quality for what they're asking. We buyers can't really complain anymore.

Admittedly I buy more cables than I need to - they're really cheap on sales these days, and I've given away some to friends. Am slowly moving to USB-C based cables and dropping the USB-A ones.

Be careful when buying 10Gbps USB-C to C cable for connecting laptop USB-C port to monitor USB-C.
Those that not marked with 10Gbps can only charge the laptop but unable to send video signal to monitor.

10Gbps USB-C to C cable cost more than a 5A USB-C to C.
I am using Dell USB-C/USB-C Hub monitors at home/work.

I spent some time testing 6 cables (and killing my external SSD's writes) For those who need the cables for external SSD/USB-C dock, the type of cable matters.

Bonus pic: What's in my 99¢ laptop charger pouch. Whole pouch weighs less than the laptop's original 65W USB-C adaptor + wire, and takes up less space in the bag to boot. I still have room to add a presentation clicker and a few more things.

Cat-8 cable up to 40GBPS compared to 1GBPS/10GBPS for Cat-6. Better shielding as well. Overkill in home use but Vention Cat-8 cables are so cheap might as well go Cat-8.
